I think it is very clear something needs to be done. Mental health checks is the first thing that comes to mind. Banning them wouldn't be the best idea unless there was a way to take down black markets significantly as well. You may not be able to do that anyway depending on how you interpret the 2nd Amendment. Like, do the words "well regulated militia" mean one thing or another? Something at some point will have to give though. Like, I am someone who used to support gun rights big time on this site and elsewhere. These shootings though... They can't keep happening like this.

If they are legal people will have them in their homes, to protect their families. If they are illegal, people will still have them to protect themselves. It will be harder to defend your self, de-legalisation of guns wond do jack.

Congress won't even think of the idea of de-legislating guns because of the constitution. However, I think that they will put stricter gun laws in place IF the people can convince them. It just needs to be harder for those with bad intentions to get guns.

The whole "people kill people" thing needs to stop. Sure, people kill people... with guns. And quite frequently here in the U.S. Our yearly benchmark is 8,000 people every year will be killed in homicide from a handgun (this excludes other guns).

And to those who believe our legislators actually vote against stronger gun regulatory laws in an attempt to uphold our second amendment right, here's an interesting fact. The gun industry boasts about making an impact just under $43 billion last year on our economy. But sure, your right to take photos with your rifles and pistols is what's really important to the legislators.

From what i learned giving more gun regulations would just led to higher crime rates. I know theres a place with few gun regulations like i believe texas and they dont have high crime rates at all. On the other hand California place with the 2nd highest amount of gun regulations has the 2nd highest crime rate. So what does this say? We should put more money in mental care before they cause more deaths. Such as the sandyhook one, the shooter had mental problems and i have heard the man who did this had mental issues as well.

Nothing can really be done, unfortunately. Bad things will and always will happen everywhere. No one can make areas completely safe, especially the government.

People really do kill people, a gun just sitting there isn't killing some one, someone has to pick it up and use it. Also technically very few people are killed by guns, it is the bullet that kills people. Guns aren't what we need to focus on, we need to focus on stopping drugs( Magor reason why we have so many guns death's in the U.S.) and having more health checks, if we have better health checks. People wanting to take pictures of people isn't hurting anyone. And i don't know if you were ever told this, but you don't need a gun to kill someone, and in the older days people fought with out a gun and would still kill people. And there are other things that can kill people like cars or knifes. There are plenty of good things that guns could be used for like recreational use, protection, etc. Oh and here is a interesting fact, in 2012, there were 1.2 million violent crimes, defined as murder, forcible rape, robbery and aggravated assault. Or, put another way, 1.2 million scenarios in which there was potential for someone to kill in self-defense. Oh and i like to think of guns like this... A guns in the hand is better than the police on the phone. Oh and i'm for gun control and trusting the goverment to protect you, after all that worked for the Indians.

Pretty much this, bad shit will happen and there's nothing any of us can do. Bad people will still get guns, and will still kill people. The U.S. has >300 million people, there's always going to be someone unstable enough to want to kill people. Taking away guns would just piss more people off than it would help and if someone really wants to shoot someone, they'll do it regardless of how difficult it is to acquire a gun.

That's a good point, there is almost enough guns in the U.S. for every citizen. People will still get a hold of guns and there isn't really anything that we can do.
