Not true, people rap about alot of brands that MOST common people dont know about. I havent heard a rapper rap about jordans in a while. I was wearing Jordans before I listened to rap, I liked them and really had no clue they were a "rap" thing at the time.
Its a fashion thing at this point, and a sports thing.

Listen to like 'The Game', he is constantly repping Jordans. But you're right, its usually Gucci, LV, Versace etc

Nope it isn't like than, it's just that basketball is big in the U.S., ever heard "ball is life".
Thats like saying that since the news talks about mass shootings that he news makes kids want to go do a mass shooting. And it isn't just young people that wear jordans.

Whom wrote Maybe because basketball is a big deal, I dont know.
But girls in white jordans with small feet, mmmm!
I think it's gotten far from actual Basketball, but more so that it's a popular brand that everyone has created a standard for them.
Myself personally, I don't get the hype behind them. I buy shoes that look decent for the price. Jordans don't look that nice to me and they're extremely overpriced. I do understand the perspective of people who buy them because they're a fan of the Michael Jordan himself, as for the looks though, I don't get it.

I personally never owned a pair either.
But i'm the people the have collections of the Jordan's must really love the shoes.
Also paying the ridiculous amount of money for them too.

Jordans aren't really that expensive compared to other collections. People collect cars and guns, that is expensive.
