Personally, I have no issues with those who spend maaad amounts of money on clothing, it's those who then brag about spending maaad amounts of money on clothing that i really dislike. I get it, you have more money than me, so does most people my age. [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

I practically live in band shirts & dickies. Shoes last me well over a year and i only own 1 pair at a time. Materialism, that's not me.

Designer clothes look better and for the most part have higher quality materials and last longer. Its like complaining about people buying nice expensive cars when they could get a different car for a quarter of the price.

Making something expensive is making it exclusive. I don't think people buy it expecting everyone else who buys it to instantly be their friend. I didn't buy my galaxy s5 instantly expecting everyone else who has one to be my friend, but if i do notice someone with the same phone it can be a conversation starter (less now cause its old but you get my point). I didn't buy my car expecting everyone else who has a rotary car to be my friends but it is something to talk about and potentially make friends.

Even if someone does buy clothes expecting people who also buy the same shit to be their friends why is that bad? everyone needs friends, however this seems more of a case of bashing on people who can afford to spend the extra money and some of you guys justify hating on them by saying its useless.

Ask yourself why we spend more on designer clothes and fancier cars. I'm guilty of it too but when you sit down and think about it what is the point?

If you go out & buy designer clothes just to "make friends," if that's the case, surely those people aren't friends if you're under the impression they wouldn't be friends with you without the designer clothes.

The OP has a point, he's talking about people buying designer clothes to fit in with a group, not about people buying designer clothes. Big difference.

This topic is spot on. I dont buy alot of branded clothing only official merchandise sometimes but even then on an odd occasion. due to the amount it costs, It tends to stir me away from it and id much rather just pay for an alternative than to pay 400 odd quid for some official branding. its the company's way of trying to get you to pay for it if its "officially branded".

I like to buy designer clothes, but the low end kinda stuff like creative recreation, Hugo Boss etc. Not 700 pound shoes and 250 pound t shirt.

Most truthful post on this rant. Brands clothing etc is just like ANYTHING else, people who complain about others using clothes to their advantage or as a hobby thing just dont understand the scene..

I wouldn't spend that much on clothes but not cheap either, I buy clothes so I can feel and look good to myself not to impress anyone else, but people just feel the need to impress other people so they spend a lot on clothes

I've arrived bae.

What can I say about this topic?

Firstly I'd rather spend £200 on a sweater, £200 on some jeans and £250 on some shoes, mainly because I know what I'm buying is a quality item. The materials are usually a better quality, the print is usually a better quality meaning it'll last longer/be able to be washed more. Jeans are something I don't normally wash unless I have to, mainly because it messes with the denim. Obviously these are quality jeans that are going to last. When it comes to shoes I buy what I like, not what is hype or going to allow me to make more friends ect. I have knowledge of different shoe/clothing releases, this allows me to talk to a wider group of people about topics that are different but somewhat related.

Is this me trying to pose, look cool or buy friends? No this is me spending my money on what I want to spend it on, do I question what you spend your money on?

Secondly, who the **** buys fakes? It's cool you learnt from your mistake, but you paid retail or above retail for a fake pair of Air Max.

Sorry if I've already pointed it out. People who enjoy designer/high end clothing aren't shallow. We're not just going to be friends because we've both got the same interests in brands, it's like any other friendship. Where you can discuss anything, sport, music, ect. If the guy is a dick I'm probably not gonna be friends with him, I'll still think he has a cool fit or a nice pair of shoes on.

The clothing is a link. You have a common interest with someone that allows you to find out if you have more interests in common. Isn't this how most friendships come about? You don't hang around or chat with people that you have nothing in common with do you?

I'm probably pretty off topic now, but if you're wearing something that you're uncomfortable in you're wearing it for the wrong reasons.

I've said it so many times, this has branched out into so many sections that there should be a clothing related section. I know I would really enjoy it, it may even open me up to talking with new people about all types of different things.

Anyway Qwel is bae, hopefully I don't get any dead responses to this reply.
