Its actually a pretty decent build. Do you need the 16gb of RAM. You have an i7 6700k so i'm assuming you will be doing some streaming and video editing unless you dont need the i7.

IMO I like the r9 390 more atm it has better driver (to some) and dx12 support. But the gtx 970 has cool nvidia features like shadowplay and such.

Im assuming you dont need a mouse and keyboard since its not in your build if you do get the
Corsair K70 Keyboard
Corsair Raptor Mouse

Only go for an i7 w/ 16GB if you're doing heavy editing.

390 > 970

If you're only gonna be gaming an i5 would be just fine.

Buy a pizza with the leftover money.

What I'd get,

Overclockable:

Nice 1440p panel to make use of that 390

Non-overclockable:

You can keep the water cooler from the last build if you wish but the air cooler is just fine

Everyone is still getting the 970 when the 390 is better for similar price when amd kicks the bucket and quits making gpus nvidia will get money hungry. RIP AMD and reasonably priced gpus.

Some people still prefer nvidia cards not because of fanboyism but they still think their drivers are better and that nvidia has some features amd doesn't have like shadowplay

Nvidia's drivers haven't been all that good recently, people preferring are just as misinformed as the rest preaching.

Unless you plan to overclock this, id put less into the CPU cooler, but even if you do there are some cheaper options that will do just as good a job, Id switch to a R9 390, However if you did want to stick to the 970 then that Mboard has no SLI support so no upgradability there. Overall Good build, just you could have a similar or better PC with some different and cheaper parts and easier upgrades.
