This rant is going to be short and simple not much detail just the annoying overusing of the word's
lets say you browse some forums, and come across "v.1.1 hack" well its not a hack...
very simply just a modification, that or for-say you're playing a game and someone starts """hacking""" why is it so hard to say """modding"""? it seems to be the biggest struggle with anyone then you have the occasional kid who says, "I'm going to use yayada to hack you"
really now? :p hit them with some pentest questions
how do you open a reverse tcp, or even setup a exploit in general, that or just mess and ask them what their """hacking tool""" is written in and see their priceless response.
all in all these damn words are overused for the wrong reason.

I never say I hacked the game or I hacked the xbox. I always refer to modding cause your simply changing the original files with "modded" ones.
Hack to me is accessing locked files etc...gaining access to something that is locked

Yes, I see your point. Modifying a game isn't hacking at all it is simply adding things to a game in order to gain an advantage.
I do see how some people may see this as hacking, usually younger and less mature people, I do see their view. They often thing because you can get online and force host and add a lot of modifications to the game they seem to think you have hacked the game, which I can understand why they would think that as I used to quite a few years ago, but as I got older and more mature and started experimenting I soon realised you not hacking the game you are simply replacing files within the game to gain an advantage which could be bonus XP, extra guns, challenges and other advantages.

I honestly think younger people just use the word "Hacking" instead of "Modifying" Because it is easier to spell

*there's Sorry, I am a Grammar Nazi.
Seriously though, this does bug me. I was playing Call of Duty: WAW the other day and I was destroying this kid. He then started screaming down his microphone saying he was going hack me. I did say what was mentioned in the main post, what language is it written in. he then further replied: "English... are you stupid?!" He then started laugh to which I responded "No... I meant what coding language!" to then he replied "Uhh... I don't know." There was an admin on listening to the whole thing, he just banned him and I later got a message from him on Steam. Heh heh heh... got to love "Hackers".
