Back when I was in school I was very immature about things such as this and I realised whilst in my 2nd year of college you realise how important school is and when you approach a teacher in a responsible and mature manner it will be much better for them and for you to resolve the issue, if you go to your year manger and explain you feel anxious in this lesson and explain its not what you want to do, they could work with you and come to some sort of agreement with you and also it would help if you could get your parents to talk to the school also as its different when it comes from a parent, I didn't realise this till later in my academic years, but parents usually will act in a more mature manner, so ask if your parents can have a word for you to try and resolve the situation.

GDFR wrote So i am in year 9 and choose my options at the end of this school year.
I have french class 3 times a week and am doing really bad at it. I was just wondering if anyone knew what i could do to get out of it.
When my options come around i am not going to be choosing to take french. i would rather do tuition in a subject that im not the best at or take extra lessons in another subject.
I just wanted some tips on how to get my school to allow me to do this.

Note- i have social anxiety if this would help me get out of it in any way.

By UK laws you must take one language (I think).

I took Business, Computer Programming, ICT, World History, and Graphic Products.

For me a language is not compulsary, but if it is compulsary, just ask to be removed from it..If they don`t remove you, just be a dick. Get kicked out of the lessons and eventually they will remove you

Thought you had to take one as compulsory as a GCSE.
Just like you had to take English, Maths and Science.

No, as I just said and what others have said we didn't have to take a language. It was an option just like every other subject.

In the UK there is no law about a language being compulsory and I know you don't have to do it. French in Year 9 counts as a full GCSE which is why you are forced to do it. Why would you want to drop it?

update
I went to the head of a department at my school that takes care of this stuff.
When i leave school i am doing a three year computing diploma and they are going to see if i can start it next term and drop french.
So basically i will be going to collage twice a week and drop two subjects to do the three year course.

When i was choosing my options in my school we had path 1 witch you had to do a language and 3 other subjects of your choice and path 2 where you didn't have to do a language and got the choice of 4 subjects. I luckily got path 2, but my best advice if you are not doing well in the subject is to revise, go to after school revision get a tutor and try to just do your best.
