So I'm trying to root my Samsung S2 but my laptop doesn't pick up my phone, but if I connect my iPhone it recognizes it straight away, anyone know how to help?

So I plug my use cable into my laptop and plug the usb cable into my phone but my laptop doesn't recognize my phone when I plug it in?

Will rep 50 if anyone can help!

You may need to download the Samsung USB drivers. I had similar issues when I had a gs4.

Go on your phone and do these steps.

1) go to safari
2) type in "towelroot.com"
3) once loaded, click the big red logo in middle of page (it will download the app)
4) once downloaded, open app
5) click "make it rain"
6) it will say if you were successfully rooted or not

Hope I helped

P.S. : this is what I did to root my phone

Check and make sure all updates pending that you have installed, depending on the version of the root it could not be compatible with the firmware you're running.

I downloaded it, and ran the wizard setup, and then clicked finish, nothing happened (I waited 5-10 mins), it still did nothing so I guessed that my phone would work when I plugged it in, but it still doesn't work, I guess theirs something wrong with my phone!

you need to try different usb plugs...if you have others to use try them...not every computer will read the same usb cord..I had problems with my HTC thunderbolt back then until I tried using a different cord
