Ok so I have a intel i5 4460k and want to upgrade to some sort of i7.
How easy is this to do? Can i literally take out the i5 and put in a i7 or is there more to do? Please answer. And the last thing is what can i do with the i5? Can i sell it or throw it away

Thanks

Yes you can plop the new CPU in as long as it is the same socket, e.g 1150 which your 4460 or 4670K/4690K (if it is a K chip of course, else it is just a 4460)

If you've got a Z97 chipset motherboard, you can get a 4790k. Otherwise, a Xeon E3-1231 V3. You can bin the CPU if you want, makes no sense though. Sell it and make some of your money back.
