when i enter prestige the game crashes and takes me to dashboard

Try unplugging your Xbox and turning it back on.

Same happened to me I turned my xbox off and on and it worked if that's doesn't work try and contact Activision

Instead of unplugging
Do a hard reset while your in black ops then while the console is off hold you finger over the xbox button again for an addition 10 sec. See if that works

As the user MACS said try hard resetting your xbox if not contact Activison support
