Last August I bought my first truck. It was bone stock and looked just as it did out of the factory, I made a small post about it but decided I needed to make a new one for this. I have not done a ton too it as I have a low budget but here is some before/after pics on it and a list of this I want to do and have done! Let me know what you all think and post any suggestions! (P.S. I have not done anything to the engine as it only has 113k original miles. I am keeping it stock internally as once it goes out I am adding a 454 big block or cummins swap.)

What Ive done:
Complete rust fix
Bed-liner rocker panels
Paint Match grill
Offset baja-style rims
New crystal headlights with 6000k HIDs and 4-High mod
Smoothie Bumper
Painted rear bumper
Leveling kit

Things I plan on:
Fox suspension
6" lift (after winter)
Hidden lightbars in grill
37" All-Terrain tires
American force wheels(in my dreams)
20% tint all around (tomorrow)

I dont plan on going too crazy as I love the look of this truck and want to keep it relatable to stock, whale giving it a much "meaner" look

Not a big car guy, or truck guy. But, as imgur said, the photos are spectular. Look like the we're done by a professional.

You also might want to blur out the plate number.

Thanks! Trucks arent my first choice, but it was too good of a deal for me to pass up when looking for a vehicle so its been a learning experience for me.Either way I love making it how I want it to be and taking pictures along the way.

Looks decent, but for the love of god don't lift it. I lifted one of my trucks and I bought another lifted truck and they are nothing but problems. Let me explain why in a list with prices.

Lift: 1-2k, depending on what you get.
Big tires: I just spend 2k on new 37x13.5R17's, and 2200 on 35x12.5R17's
With big tires, you need gears, if you don't you'll destroy your tranny: 2400 bucks.
Now your truck is 6" taller, but your axle is farther away from the trans, so you need a new drive shaft: Look it up, not a pretty number.
Most lifts lift your rear end on blocks, so you will be replacing leaf springs every year, until you buy the right lift springs: 750 for lift springs
Your trucks suspension is meant for a stock tire, which is about 50 LBS. 37's are around 100-150 LBS. You will be going through wheel bearings at 500 each (so far I replace one every 6 months), you will be replacing ball joints at 300 each, you will be replacing ti-rods at 300 each, and you may be replacing CV's a lot at 500 each. In fact if you are on an IFS suspension, forget a lift and big tires. I did that on my F-150 and it's in the shop about every month.

I have 16k into my F-150 which bluebooks at 5500.

As far as fox suspension, it's a waste. Unless you want to spend 2k on the right shocks from them, you will waste your money. Get the bilstein 5100 series shocks, they are the best ones you'll ever run.

It's all cool to think about, but by the time you're done you will have been able to have bought a brand new truck.

As for your 454 / cummins swap, good luck. Cummins swap I doubt you'll do because you will probably need 15k to put into that between the engine, labor, and the parts that are different for a diesel than a gas such as simple things like the exhaust.

I love how you list about 5-7k in mods, followed by "I dont plan on going too crazy" lol. Honeestly, if you want an aggressive look, get fender flares, wheels with more offset, an off road bumper (like the ADD bumpers, or the big boondock ones if that's what your looking for), and aftermarket headlights.

You guys spend a hell of a lot on your trucks, not saying it's a bad thing. We all have the vehicles we like and make our own.

OP - Looks nice and as others have said the photography is great.


Ill be taking that all into consideration, however I have all parts needed available. As far as lift goes I can get everything in and done just shy of $500. I have a parts truck with a 454 on the side of my house, and a friend who totaled his dodge that may sell me whats needed for the cummins. For the tires I get very good discounts from where I work and understand what needs to be done with them. I plan on putting the one-ton rear end on my truck from parts as well for that. I know about the usual maintenance and I can do that myself as well. Thanks though, doing everything in a shop your almost spot on for prices and you know what your talking about, however I prefer to do it myself and get what I need through other connections which saves thousands in the long run

I do most of my stuff myself, ball joints, ti-rods, CV's, the lift, etc. Either way, good luck, just do more research so you know 100% what you're getting into.
