The fallout series are all based on the same concept of an post apocalyptic world that you have to survive in. Each of the games have references to each other but are all set in different areas of post apocalyptic america with each to there own stories. Fallout 4 has many of the same groups as the past game such as the brother hood of steel, institute, super mutants and the usual raiders but also has many new groups and factions. I would definitely advise on getting the game as i think it has one of the best story lines in gaming.

This is my first fallout game and I absolutely love it, the story is of its own so you're not lost at all.
