Specs
OS: Windows 10 Home 64-bit
CPU:Intel Core i5 4460 @ 3.20 GHz
RAM: 8.0 GB ddr3 @798MHz
Motherboard: Lenovo K450e version I1KT38AUS
GPU: 2047MB Nvidia GeForece GT 720 (MSI)
Storage: WDC 1TB (Sata)
I was wondering if i could buy an intel i7 and upgrade my CPU but i'm not sure if it would work with my mother board, or my power supply. my comptuer is extra cool, so no need to worry about an overheating issue. if you need my wattage on my power supply i can check and put it in here as well. thank you!

Upgrading to an i7 is probably going to be your easiest upgrade, but it's the one that makes the least sense, since your i5 is the best component in your rig. Case and PSU almost definitely need an upgrade. That GPU should be upgraded too, and add an SSD/nice cooler when you can. No point upgrading to an i7, just grab a Xeon E3-1231 V3 since the mobo is pretty poo. Or, get a new motherboard and new CPU or something, but that should be last on your list.

I'd budget for a new Case, PSU, GPU and Motherboard if you can afford it then it'll almost be a completely new PC.

Motherboard is only necessary if you plan to do any major upgrades for example changing case, as your current Lenovo one may be a special size or may be clipped in (making it incompatible with most cases). If you just want more power then you need a new GPU first and the power supply to accommodate that...but bear in mind your case may not support the length of gaming cards so you need to be certain before purchase. Just upgrading the motherboard now will show you no improvement at all.
