This is classic case of conspiratorial paranoia. The evil Satanists are out to get me! The evil Liberals are out to take my guns!

The reason why there is a push for gun control is because we have a problem with gun related violence! A quick google search will solidify that.

We have to get tested that we are able to operate a car properly before we are allowed to drive one. We are given a license if we've proven we are capable of operating said vehicle. But right now I can go to a gun show and buy a gun in a second and walk out with it. Do you think we'd be okay if we let people go out and buy cars without having to have a drivers license or insurance? No we would not. That is my argument for gun control. Ban the private selling of guns.

The evil liberals are trying to take our guns.

Also, should we ban private sales of cars? People could buy a car privately, drive drunk, and kill someone. Or just straight up get in an accident and injure another person.

Yeah, so with that logic murder should be legal too right? Because hey, people are gonna do it anyways right!?

No.

Only idiots think like this... A gun, a car, a knife are all tools. All tools can be misused, but no tool should be taken away.

The purpose of a gun is to cause damage to something though. Whether that is by hunting, shooting at a firing range, or defending a home.
The purpose of a car isn't to cause damage, it's to transport someone safely and quickly.

The knife comparison would only work for things like hunting knives, in my opinion.

I don't think that guns should be banned, but I don't like the car/knife comparison.

Really the purpose of most tools is causing damage. A shovel is meant to dig, a knife is meant to cut, etc.

Knives and shovels have uses other than causing damage though, like cutting a turkey, or digging to plant vegetables.
It's damage but it isn't damage on the same level as killing an animal, or destroying a wooden fence used as a shooting range.
What use does a gun have where it doesn't cause massive damage to something?

and have you accepted that the car comparison doesn't work? I'm not too bothered about the whole knife/shovel thing because I think there is an argument there for hunting knives or the military bladed shovels, but regular knives and shovels aren't as big of a threat as guns when it comes to the amount of people who can be killed in one spree, so I don't think there is an argument there.

Damage is damage, weather you think it causes more damage is irrelevant. A shovel is meant to cause damage to the ground to plant things, granted it could be used to pick up dog poop. What's the difference between a shovel digging a hole and a gun shooting at a target? Not a hole lot, one is leisure, and the other is work. Also, a gun can just be set up as display where it is being used to look cool, but not kill anything.

The car and gun works. People are clearly too dumb to drive they can wreck on the freeway or fall asleep at the wheel. There is no argument when it comes to gun control. Why do we have guns (US)? To protect ourselves from a tyrannical government. Do you know that most people who don't follow laws are criminals? Did you know that everyone who shoots someone is a criminal? WTF do you think taking away guns will do? Criminals won't give up their guns, call me a criminal because I sure as hell am ot giving up my guns.

More than 30,000 people are killed by firearms each year in this country. Let's just bump that up to 50k for the hell of up and to make sure we count everyone. 318.9 MILLION people live in the US. 50000 / 318900000 = 0.000157 That is a VERY small percentage of the population that die from guns to decide to take guns away from everyone. Trying to take guns away is a horrible idea. All you are doing is taking away guns from an honest man. The other people (criminals) will still have guns, robbery's will go up, and this country will be horrible.

7.6 million people die each year from cancer. 7.6 million > 50k. We should be spending our money towards finding a cure for cancer before trying to take guns away.

I did say earlier in the post:
I don't think that guns should be banned, but I don't like the car/knife comparison.

The car and gun works. People are clearly too dumb to drive they can wreck on the freeway or fall asleep at the wheel.

People have to go through the process of learning how to drive, taking a test, being a certain age, etc. to have a car.
I think that the same rigorous standards should be applied to guns and that the loopholes used to get guns without the proper tests should be closed.

New laws are introduced all of the time for car safety, it's an advancing process.
When any new laws for gun safety are proposed they are immediately shut down as, 'Them liberals tryin' to steal our guns.'
Why do people not complain about their freedom being taken in cars when lower speed limits are set in certain areas?
Because cars and guns are different. People understand that car safety needs to be improved. What I don't understand is how, even outside of mass shootings, with these children who find their dad's gun and kill their brother by mistake, people can still say that gun safety laws don't need to be improved. That the tests don't need to be more rigorous.

Even though people still crash their cars after new safety procedures are put in place and people will still shoot each other when these new gun laws are - hopefully - put in place I am still not calling for the banning of cars or guns.

The problem of, 'Criminals don't follow the law' leads onto another issue entirely. Gangs in America account for the vast majority of gun deaths. The gangs get their revenue through drug trafficking and sales. If the US government either ended the drug war or simply legalized the main recreational drugs used in America, like marijuana, they would lose a large amount of their revenue. Less revenue, less crime, less gun deaths.

We agree on a lot of the issues surrounding gun control, and I like to abide by the 50% rule.
If someone agrees with you on 50% of an issue, it's not really worth arguing with them about the last 50%.

I am sorry to say this, but conspiracists always take things to seriously and over think things. I personally think you need to stop thinking to much into it, it's not fake..

Where are the bullet holes? Where are the ejecting shells? Why isn't the slide moving? Why isn't her clothes moving as she's being shot? Why isn't she being pushed down from the bullets?

The people who advocate for gun control are not trying to take your guns. How many times do we have to say it?
