I've been on this site for a long time, a little after MW2 was released when modding was a big deal. I used to have fun with the people on here and overall it was just a great community. I used to host WaW Zombie lobbies, MW2 10th prestige lobbies, all that good stuff. I met a lot of cool people, shared a lot of laughs with other TTGers, even made some friends I still talk to today (and yet I'm the only one who comes to this site still).

I remember when shoutbox had Shouterdays and it was like Bob Ross' twitch chat where you could hardly even see your message after you post it because chat was so fast. I remember before I had a JTAG how hard I desperately tried to get into a prestige lobby for me and my friends. I remember when I researched every possible JTAG topic on here to try and learn how to become a modder and what tools and etc. I needed. I remember my first post on a lobby how everyone called me a fake scammer, so I made my lobby free and the lobby filled up so quickly I couldn't even send a fourth invite because the people in the lobby had already invited their friends. So, I would stay up all night just doing this for fun. Of course, I didn't always do it for free, I was 13/14 at the time and I wanted new games lol. But, through all of these good times, I don't remember anything bad ever happening on TTG. Of course there was your occasional troll lurking somewhere in the depths of the forums. Nobody ever really minded them though, they were too little in numbers and didn't really affect any of us, or at least me. I paid them no mind and went about my day.

However, not everything stays good forever I suppose. Now this forum is filled with this elitist group that is friendly with moderators that allow them to say and do whatever they want, and when they get the same treatment the posters post gets deleted. I've seen it done one too many times, and it's sad that this is going on because that's probably one of the biggest reasons why this forum is dwindling in numbers. I won't go into how TTG removed the modding forums, because Sean had no choice really, and MS was on the forum and banning any Gamertag that they saw posted, that was probably another thing that scared people off of here. But, now it just seems that this entire site is filled with trolls who have each others backs, and it really just makes it an unfriendly forum to browse on. There's grammar nazi's, elitists, console fanboys that rage on all of the pc posts, pc fanboys that rage on all of the console posts, arguments in every topic, filled with scammers, people who post something on every topic just to get their post count higher not even engaging in the topic or producing anything that is about the topic, filthy moderators (some not all, you know who you are if you're reading this, I don't otherwise I'd probably put you on blast because that sh*t isn't cool and you should probably get stripped), new accounts advertising YouTube pages, I mean come on I almost want to believe this is the source where all the negative people are born out of this site has so many now.

But, before I leave I just want to maybe try and tell TTG how to fix their sh*t and get back on board again. Maybe make things live a little again. Because, I used to love this site when I was a kid, and I just want the kid who's going to take my spot on here to have a better experience than what this has turned into. Firstly, I say clean up the moderators. (I'm probably going to get banned for saying that or this post is going to get deleted but that just shows you that they are trying to hide something) You won't have an effective forum if people can post something disrespectful, and then once they get a rebuttal they go and cry to their moderator friends to delete the response. Second, find a purpose. This site is known for modding, so why remove it altogether? There is so many different kinds of mods whether it be physical or software mods that aren't illegal so to speak, being released every day. The Gameboy Color, is still getting modded to this day! You can focus on the brighter side of modding instead of hacking the game. There's case mods, controller mods, all of that. Not to mention the HUGE array of PC mods out there. I mean, just because MS took away our precious MW2 Lobby thread doesn't mean they took our modding spirit away right? Another thing, I guess I should have put this up there with the moderator statement, but be on duty. There are countless of people spamming just to get their post count up or a MVC badge, and they don't even talk about the topic! It's annoying as it is frustrating, to see how you write a two paragraph response on the topic, just to see 10 people post "this looks cool" right above it, knocking your post to the second page. One of the last things that would help improve this site is, interacting with the community more. I'm not saying, go around and shake everybody's hand. But, make community nights, where everyone goes and plays a game together, or bring back Shouterdays. Maybe even take what I posted above, and go try out a community made mod with everyone. I'm no expert forumancer that can bring this forum to what it once was, but that's where the creativity, ingenuity, and effort from the creators and mods of this site come into play.

Well, that's all folks. I just hope that someone somewhere took something out of this post. After all, it only takes a drop to make some waves.

tl;dr but I skimmed. I noticed the point about you mentioning "The site is about modding". That was popularity back in the dragon ages but things come and go. I am actually glad the modding scene is depleting because it was just full of leeching kids.

Yeah, I'm kind of glad that the 10th prestige lobbies and such are gone as well. But, I was just mentioning the good times I had on the forum when I was talking about that. But, just because 10th lobbies are gone doesn't mean that all modding has to be eradicated from the site. I would have liked to see TTG bouncing back from that and forming a community on the other spectrum of modding, that is legal and more fun imo.

I feel like this is more of a social media site for kids more into gaming/technology

Yeah, it's what I've been feeling these past couple of months after my year long hiatus from the site. I'm glad that you can relate though.

I'll be honest, I see eye-to-eye and agree with alot of the points you've raised. And no, I'm not going to ban you for making a comment about moderators, everyone has their own feelings about us...and well yeah - you've been here a long time and seen the site at its highs and lows.. so I can't fault you there. In terms of problems with staff, feel free to Pm me and i'll raise it with the relevant people.

Sorry that TTG doesn't live up to what it used to be, I guess it happens with all of us as we grow older, its life I guess.

Would just like to say good luck in life with whatever you choose to follow now since i'm guessing you'll be reaching the uni/college/work stage. Hope it all goes well!

Hope you pop in every now and then in future hopefully once V5 comes out and we'll maybe see a difference.

Dean

Yeah, that's kind of what it is turning into. But, it's just not getting enough traction to be that imo. There's too many of these sites around, IGN for example that has a huge fan base. TTG has to bring something original to the table to pick up speed again.

I haven't been around to make any judgements, a lot of statements in there are factual but I wont mention them as for staff, I have never met any crupt moderators, other than a few usual funny remarks are said but doesn't change the fact they're good staff, constantly helping people, removing the spam/useless stuff. As for the community spirit, the old modding scene is decaying but not gone. I think it just needs a little boost is all, perhaps competitions for badges more often? Graphics comps/best modder/ top contributor etc they could all bump up the growth of active/mature members.
