Yes, you need to remove the oil plug to remove all of the oil.
You'll have to jack the car up, roll under it, and unbolt the cap.

Unless you want to sit there with a turkey baster and a long tube, then yes, removing the oil plug is necessary lol.

Even if you you have some fancy tool to vacuum out the oil from the fill hole, you have to get underneath the car anyway to change the oil filter.

My oil filter can be accessed from under the hood easily. Was the same way on my 04 CTS. It's different for every make/model.

Aight. The reason why I asked was cause I don **** up and went like 8000 over my 5000 mile mark. My dipstick was reading like no oil at all, just a tiny bit. I took the oil filter off and some came out but barely anything like a tiny stream for about 4 seconds. Suprised my car didnt blow. Anyways my take can hold 5 Qts and I put 5 qts in with no problem so I was just wondering with the VERY little amount in their if it would mess it up mixing together or anything. But yeah its over with did it at like 10 pm last night.

Or go to Walmart, they charged me 19.84 with having to add an addition quart and a half (their 15 dollar oil change is for 5 quarts, my truck was 6.5).
