Right.

I currently have a VW Passat CC and I've just finished paying the finance for it. I'm now looking at selling it and getting a 4x4/truck.
But the thing is most of the ones I like are American. (In from England).
I'm thinking of getting a bank loan and selling my car to get money and importing one from the States. But I'm not sure if it's worth it and if it will cost to much. But I'm just curious what people would do in my situation. I would have around £15,000 - £20,000.
I defiantly want to get rid of it as I've had it 2 years and now want something bigger.

Thanks guys & girls

Can you afford the gas and insurance?

Not sure how the importing works, but if it is what I think it is, I wouldn't do it. You are buying a vehicle sight unseen, you don't know how it drives, etc. Also trying to find someone to ship it to you will be a nightmare.

I'd look for something local, something you can drive before you buy, take it to a mechanic to get it checked out, etc.

Well the best way for you to go about this is to hire someone in the states who knows how to export and import cars. Then tell them what you are looking and have them buy the car for you and fill out paperwork to export to you. Also you have to make sure the vehicle you are importing meets your country's requirements if not you will have wasted a lot of time and money just for the vehicle to be stuck with customs. You might spend about 5 maybe up to 10 thousand in just getting it to you. Then you stand the risk of it getting stolen in the whole process. I would suggest google to help research on it if you're really wanting to go forward with it.

Also take into perspective on maintenance it might be more expensive and harder to find parts for your vehicle.

Personal thoughts: don't buy Ford
Goodluck!

My Ex girlfriends dad worked in transporting cars to other places and it either be cheap or very expensive. He was able to ship thing back to his home country for under 1,000.

If you're going to spend that kind of money get a real 4x4.

You can buy mine, that way you don't have to worry about changing it from left hand drive to right hand drive

Right I've changed my mind now.

I'm going to give my Passat CC to my partner so she can sell her car to get a bit of money and im going to get myself a bank loan and put savings towards a new 4x4 and buy one here in England.
Just came back from looking at this Discovery thats up for £15,000 and I think its a bargain.

Even though it might be expensive. Getting a truck is so much better. there is only one downside to having a truck and that is gas mileage. but other then that its worth it
