There is not really a specific way to define a chav. I usually wear all black clothes which consist of tracksuits, joggers and every now and then for special occasions jeans. But would you consider me as a chav? Probably just because of the colour of clothes I wear. You could also say that someone is a chav with the way that they behave. If they dont usually use full sentences and replace real words with slang all the time then there is another way to tell if someone is a 'chav' or not.

Just saying mate, nothing wrong with being one cause to be honest with you I am one too.

If someone calls you a chav because of what you wear they are using a common stereotype mate.
Being a chav is a judgement on the way someone acts and talks.
You wear what ever you want mate.
Its your life.
Your not a chav.

Tbh I'm classed as a chav because of the people i associate with and the cloths i wear (hoodies, etc...) and because i'm usually out at nights but i really don't care.. just because you wear them means nothing you get called a chav on the things you/friends are like and do or know.. if you generally loiter and are out late, Hoodies and Trakies you normally get called a 'Chav'

Ok, so i will try to make this as clear as possible.
Trackies i think are personally chavy if you wear them when you go out but if you wear them indoors then it really does not matter. Wearing them out shows everyone that you are not really making an effort with yourself. I mean, trackies are for sports arn't they?

The others ways you can recognize a 'chav' is the way they speak and act. Especially the ones that say '**** the pigs.'

Watch this video and this defines a chav really well but note that Devo is the most brutal and nutty chav on the planet.
