An unlocked CPU makes absolutely no sense if OP isn't overclocking. Skylake is barely more expensive. DDR4 RAM is only slightly more than DDR3, and Skylake mobo's are only slightly more expensive than Haswell. It makes no sense not to go with Skylake at this point. You realise that some 4690k's won't be stable past stock speeds, right? Overclocking is completely dependent on your luck, and you could quite easily get a chip that isn't stable, unless completely stock, regardless of your cooling.

650w is cutting it way too close especially if you want to OC the cards. 16GB of RAM isn't required, so not much of an argument. You may not like that colour scheme, but others will, don't act like your opinions are the same as others. And where did I say anything about a 390x?

You've gone for a black and white motherboard with red RAM, and a red GPU. That's just not going to look nice. Just spend the extra £5 for a Z170A Gaming Pro.

Add up ALL the differences in skylake prices and your pushing your £/fps rate down and down. Why not buy a K skew CPU for the extra £10 - £20? I guarantee after OP watches a few videos and sees how easy it is he'll be jumping at potentially free performance increases. The vast vast vast majority of 4690k's hit 4.2. Yes it's not guaranteed, but even if it clocks to 3.6 your still getting a better performance to price sweet spot than a standard 4690

The 4690 is the same price as the 4690k, so obviously the 4690k is better. Again, as I said, unlocked CPU makes no sense if isn't overclocking, and a locked Skylake CPU would be better. Really? The vast majority? Show me those numbers then. Show me the "vast majority" of 4690k's running at 4.2GHz or more.
