Jebus no, upgrade that GPU wtf.

Update your mobo to the latest BIOS, and use the IB Xeon. IB is still perfectly fine, no need to upgrade to Haswell, it just means having to buy and install a new motherboard. Stick with LGA1155 for now IMO. GTX 950 will be a nice improvement over that GT 730. Depending on your PSU, it could be worth upgrading next but it will be fine for now.

P.S. Git an SSD.

E3-1220 V3 is just an i5-4440 without the iGPU FYI. i5-4460 is better than the E3-1220 V3 and about $60 cheaper, so would make much more sense, if you were to go with Haswell, OP, but there's no need to go with Haswell since LGA1155 is still perfectly fine and an IB Xeon will do you well, especially with a nice new GPU.

Why not go haswell when it's the same price/cheaper and better? You can get a 4590 right now on jet with a coupon code (they're always available) for 147, and then you can get an 1150 board for 65-80 bucks depending on what you want. When sandy bridge dies for gaming haswell will too because there is little difference, but there's absolutely no reason to pay more money to not upgrade. He'll have to install a new motherboard but it takes less than 25 minutes assuming you know what you're doing.

SB/IB i5s are cheaper than Haswell i5s and SB/IB Xeons are cheaper than Haswell Xeons. Upgrading to Haswell would cost more because OP would need a new motherboard. It's not worth the extra money to upgrade one generation.

you said that the i5 was better and 60 bucks cheaper but he'd have to get an 1150 socket mobo. You can get an 1150 mobo for 60 bucks and you'll have even more to spend on it if you use the discount code I mentioned

No, you misunderstood.

Dinkleberg suggested a Xeon E3-1220 V3 which is a 4C/4T Haswell CPU. The i5-4460 would be better, and is $60 cheaper. I suggested an E3-1230 V2, which is an Ivy Bridge 4C/8T CPU. The E3-1240 V2 is sort of like an i7-3770 without the iGPU.

Since you dont have a proper budget, I thought Id whack together something like this

Its supposed to be changed because none of us know what you do on your PC. We dont know what games you play, or what your priorities are.

If you go with that build, you might need a new powersupply.

Also, if you got even more cash dollah around, you could also add in an SSD.
