Hi guys,

So since I last posted, I managed to build my PC for the first time and it works!

Problem is, when playing witcher 3 with overclock (solid 60fps), the gpu raises to 92 degrees and the cpu around 60/70. So I don't know if thats okay (I'm guessing its not!), what can I do to reduce the temperature?

My build:

Case: Corsair Carbide Series SPEC-03 White LED Mid-Tower Gaming Case
Graphics card: 1x MSI Nvidia GeForce GTX980TI 6GB GDDR5
CPU: Intel Core i7 4790K 4GHz Socket 1150 8MB L3 Cache Retail Boxed Processor
CPU Cooler - Cooler Master RR-212E-16PK-R1 Hyper 212 Evo
RAM - 2x Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3 1600 Mhz
PSU - EVGA Supernova 750W G1 Gold Modular Power Supply Unit
Case fans: 2x Cooler Master SickleFlow 120 Blue LED Fan - 120mm, 2000RPM
Case fans: 2x 120mm that came with the case (on the front) + one 120mm on the back.

What I did was install my components, then install the 2 cooler master fans on the top as exhaust. The CPU cooler is facing one of the fans on the top.

Any ideas how I can reduce temperatures?

92 is warm for a GPU, but it's safe. Nothing to worry to much about, if you want to lower the temps a bit, lower your Overclock.

60/70 is perfectly fine for a i7 and don't need to be reduced in anyway. If however you still want to, re-apply thermal compound or get a better heatsink, the 212 is a good cooler, but can only do so much.

If you want to truly lower temps, a better cooler would be the beast way to do it.

If you want to keep it air cooled you could put a Phanteks TC14PE or a Cryorig R1 Ultimate and they would reduce the temps quite drastically.

But like i said before, you have nothing to worry about as far as the CPU is concerned.

Sorry I just want to point out its 92 degrees Celsius, or did you guess that? I worry because I read online that 92c is the maximum that GTX980ti can go.

My biggest concern is the GPU temperature. Is it worth installing new fans or liquid cooling on the gtx? The gtx 980ti I have is armour 2x.

How are you measuring the temperatures. Could we have a screenshot of what your using.

Have to tried using MSI Afterburner to control fan speeds?

GPU cores are rated normally to around 105C, so 92 is safe.

Drop your OC a bit using MSI Afterburner that will reduce temps.

Having lunch now so away from computer

I'm using MSI Afterburner, heaven benchmark while OCed pushes gpu to 83c max but witcher 3 (same) OCed shows as 92c max. I set the fan curve so it's 100% at 80c.

Are you looking at the core temp or VRM temperatures. If I'd the core, turn down your OC because clearly your cooler can't cope with it.

Here is MSI, not overclocked while idle: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Playing Witcher 3 OCed for about 10 mins: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
For some reason, this time when I tried it the temp only reached 85c max. Strange
