I had to wipe my windows 10 pc and had some files encrypted. I now can't access them even though im on the same pc running 10 again. I did not back up the key anywhere as i did not expect this to happen it does not warn you when you are upgrading that you lose files that way. anyways i have the windows.old folder still would the key be in there? and if so where?

Well if you did the upgrade, Try going to Settings,Upgrade and Security, Then Recovery and you should have the options of reverting back to your Previous OS.

Windows can sometimes ask if you want to back up your encryption key to OneDrive but thats with Bitlocker, and won't apply to any third party encryption tool you may have used. Which tool did you use?
