For a short period, yes the Revolver screwed things up. However, that weapon is not responsible for your derank from MGE to Nova Master, you only have yourself to blame for that.

A long time ago, it was much harder to reach the ranks you were at and that was a result of the vast amount of cheaters throughout the higher ranks. Valve are trying to find ways to border up so that cheaters are kept to a minimum and to of course discourage surfing.

The VAC ban waves are most likely the result of your rank dropping so drastically as it's opened up much space in other ranks.

Not completely true, is what the same update that added the R8 that screwed up his rank, the ranking system was changed.

The devs have said this. So, he completely has the right to be upset about his rank decreasing. I'd be pissed off as well, if I was ranked that high.

Oh yes, I forgot to mention that I suppose your right, but 3 whole ranks?

They pretty much fixed everything that went wrong.
And for your rank that's supposed to happen. They wanted to make Higher ranks harder and the average player back to Nova 4 from MGE/DMG. I went from supreme to LE. I pretty sure you can even derank off of a win atm, so don't be mad. That's how its supposed to be and was before a Vac Wave a while back made ranking up easy.
