Nocebo wrote Your opinion is yours and it is wrong. You can both have an opinion and have that opinion be wrong. How can you not understand this?

You can also agree with some of what someone is saying and disagree with some other parts of what they are saying, which is what I am doing with you. But you would know all of this if you had just read my replies. I am reading your replies and I'm responding to all of what you are saying, you are just being too lazy to do me the same courtesy, and are trying to turn it all back on me.

I am actually amazed that you are being so defensive and ignorant that you won't even read what I'm saying.
You're right, it's Christmas, I have better things to do. Bye.

You're an arrogant PoS. Who do you think you are? What do you think gives you the right to tell me that my opinion is wrong? You also already stated that you agree'd with me, so you're literally contradicting yourself.

You're literally trying to start an argument for no valid reason and constantly contradicting yourself, "How can you not understand this?".

Literally all I said was that I'm sick of assholes bragging on social media, but because I didn't spell it out for you, you saw an opening for you to boost your ego though an argument on the internet, you pompous ass. Oh, but I'm the one who doesn't understand English, even though you need shit to be spelled out for you, hm?

Nocebo wrote you won't even read what I'm saying.

It's because this is literally all you're saying, and repeating the same shit, as well as flaming and trying to argue. I'm not going to sit and read a pissy little asshole flaming me for no reason, other than the fact you want an argument.

What gives me the right to tell you that your opinion is wrong? Exactly the same thing that gives you the right to defend your opinion. Freedom of speech. We're on a discussion forum, this is exactly what discussion forums are for. You'd think a member with 10,000+ posts would understand that.

You're literally trying to start an argument for no valid reason and constantly contradicting yourself, "How can you not understand this?".

I'm not contradicting myself but you wouldn't know what I'm actually saying to you because you didn't read my post.

No, there's a difference between something being implied, like someone saying 'They have the right' when they mean 'They can do what they want with their own accounts' and the complete absence of you saying what you meant.
Your first post on this topic said absolutely nothing about people bragging and being assholes about what they got on social media. Why do you think so many people disagreed with you? Because you didn't even imply it.

Nocebo wrote you won't even read what I'm saying.

You didn't even read any of this:

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Those were my responses to your opinions, until you actually respond to those I can do nothing except say how amazing it is that you are being so ignorant.

You turn around on a discussion forum and say that someone is flaming you for trying to discuss something with you when you're the one who won't read what they are saying and are calling them 'PoS Assholes'?

This is absolutely astounding, never before on this website have I been confronted with a 10,000+ post member who doesn't understand that this is a discussion forum where opinions are open to being challenged and defended.

Biebs wrote You clearly never actually read what I said, or just never paid attention. Before social media, sure, they'd show their friends some of their shit eventually, but the majority of people wouldn't open their present, and run in to the streets to show everyone what they got. With social media, presents will be opened and the first thing that's done is photo's or posts on social media.

What's the difference? The fact is that it's human's tendency to show other people new things they've received. No matter if it was "back then" or "now", kids will always try to "show off" their new presents. Doesn't really matter if it's done through social media or not. It's happened for ages now. I don't find a problem with it either in my opinion.

Another one who didn't even read my post. I'm saying that for me, social media is always full of toolbags bragging. When I was younger, no one would go out on Christmas day to show off their shit. People would spend Christmas with their family and maybe show, or mention to their friends some of their gifts. Now, though, kids get up and post all over social media about what they got for Christmas, bragging, and ignoring their family to post about the shit they got, in an attempt at getting likes/retweets/faves/whatever the hell else.

The hypocrisy!

Here is my response to that very point from the post one page back which YOU didn't read.

Who cares? So they take a picture as soon as they get it. It gets it out of the way and then they can focus on using it. Maybe it's their way of showing appreciation. If I got a friend a present and the first thing they did was share that with the world I'd know I had got them a pretty good present. Sooner or later, who cares? Why does it matter when they take the pictures?

It's obvious that anecdotes aren't going to get us anywhere, but it's also quite obvious that just like there are people who won't post their stuff all over social media, there were also kids who would run out to show their friends their new things right after they had opened their presents.
Your analogy doesn't work because it doesn't show any difference between what was happening before social media with presents and after social media with presents.

Perhaps you will actually respond to it now? Or are you just going to say I'm flaming you again?

Eh, even if you do I don't care enough about this any more to try and talk to you about it.
You've made it quite clear that you don't like being disagreed with and will use any smear tactic possible to try and get out of having to defend what you're saying.

I'll see you around, and hopefully we can move past this.
Genuinely, have a nice Christmas, and try not to get too jealous of what people post on social media.
That's a joke, calm down.

You're literally restating what you said in the post I quoted you on with anecdotal evidence and claiming I didn't read it. Seems you're saying that with everyone who disagrees with you.

My point remains. People have always been showy of new items. In a digital age, you see it on things like facebook and twitter more than ever. Doesn't mean it didn't exist long ago.

You having a different opinion from me, and me being wrong are two completely different things lmfao. You don't even understand the shit you're spouting, do you.

Nocebo wrote I'm not contradicting myself but you wouldn't know what I'm actually saying to you because you didn't read my post.

This is like the 8th time you've said that, and I only ignored one post because you literally just resorted to flaming and I'm not going to bother with that, but since you're so adamant that you want to argue on Christmas for no reason, let me take this real slow for you.

Nocebo wrote No, there's a difference between something being implied, like someone saying 'They have the right' when they mean 'They can do what they want with their own accounts' and the complete absence of you saying what you meant.

Nocebo wrote until you actually respond to those I can do nothing except say how amazing it is that you are being so ignorant.

No, what happened here is that you flamed me, I ignored it, and now you're trying to say that anything I say is irrelevant because I refuse to read a post where all you're doing is flaming.

Nocebo wrote This is absolutely astounding, never before on this website have I been confronted with a 10,000+ post member who doesn't understand that this is a discussion forum where opinions are open to being challenged and defended.

You confronted me, sunshine. You're the one who started this shit for no reason, not me.

Nocebo wrote Perhaps you will actually respond to it now? Or are you just going to say I'm flaming you again?

I literally told you I was refusing to read the majority of your post because I seen that you had started flaming. That's a completely valid reason to ignore you. You, however, read what I say and completely ignore it, or twist my words to make me look like the bad guy, because I have my own opinion on something, based on my own experience? Hm.

Cokes wrote You're literally restating what you said in the post I quoted you on with anecdotal evidence and claiming I didn't read it. Seems you're saying that with everyone who disagrees with you.

My entire original point is that I'm fed up of assholes bragging. No one is disagreeing with me. I literally posted about my own opinion, based on my own experience and I'm being attacked for being "wrong" lmfao.

Cokes wrote My point remains. People have always been showy of new items. In a digital age, you see it on things like facebook and twitter more than ever. Doesn't mean it didn't exist long ago.

I don't disagree?

Nocebo wrote I'm sorry, I didn't realize that you were sat outside the average teenager's house looking through their windows watching them open their presents and seeing exactly when they decide to take a picture of their presents.

Someone clearly doesn't understand social networking.

Nocebo wrote Maybe it's their way of showing appreciation.

This isn't the people that I'm referring to though.

Nocebo wrote Why does it matter when they take the pictures?

You clearly misunderstand my point entirely. I'm not mad at photographs. I am fed up of people putting photo's/posts of all the shit they get all over social networking, bragging about it.

Nocebo wrote See, now I'm going to do what you did to GTT, but I'm actually going to do it right.

You complained that I was being pedantic, but you're contradicting yourself. You're literally trying to argue with me because I didn't specify that I was talking about assholes that sit and brag, and talk shit.

Nocebo wrote Are you actually going to provide a reason why it's not 'natural' or are you just going to keep saying over and over again that it isn't natural?
I chose the word 'natural' specifically because you hadn't given any reasons why it isn't natural.
And well done for actually responding to my points, rather than just getting even more defensive and addressing the fact that I'm saying you're getting defensive.

If it was natural, every one would do it. They don't, thus it isn't really natural. At least, I wouldn't consider getting up on Christmas and immediately posting a photo natural, but hey, that's why I said "I wouldn't call it natural".

Nocebo wrote
And I've already said that pretty much everyone agrees with you there

Stop trying to argue then.

Nocebo wrote You've made it quite clear that you don't like being disagreed with and will use any smear tactic possible to try and get out of having to defend what you're saying

Don't bother quoting me, or replying to me. It's Christmas, I'd rather spend time with my family than waste it arguing with someone who's just twisting my words and contradicting themselves.

Thanks, happy holidays xox.

I don't disagree?

Then why not say that instead of being so quick to accuse me of not reading your entire post?

Here I asked you to explain the difference between a child showing off a present "eventually" oppose to instantaneously on social media. You merely restated what you wrote instead. In my opinion there isn't any difference, which is why I disagree with you. Social media makes it easier and quicker to share information. Back then and now there's always been ungrateful spoiled brats that have accepted gifts and shown them off like it's nothing. The internet just makes it easier and faster to see.

It seems that you never read my post before because I've already tried to say that's not the point I'm trying to make. I'm not saying there weren't egotistical toolbags before social media, I'm simply saying social media makes t easier, and a lot more people do it now(at least the people I know), and it gets annoying when all I see is assholes trying to brag about shit on social networking sites, when no one really cares.

I'm not even saying people shouldn't talk about the gifts they receive, I'll probably do the same with my own friends, in PM's though.

As for people showing their friends their gifts before social networking, sure, it happened, but not straight away. In my case, people would usually take one or two of their favourite gifts back to school with them and show them to their friends then, instead of taking a photo of tens of wrapped presents, which I do see on FB now, and it just really pisses me off, because it's not what Christmas is about, IMO. Again, I'm not even saying there is an issue with it, just that it gets pretty annoying after a while. I've probably done shit like that in the past though, myself, but 3 years ago me is cringe af.

THEY ARE EXACTLY THE SAME THING
Me saying that you are wrong and giving you my opinion is saying that your opinion is wrong. YOU CAN DEFEND YOUR OPINION. This is absolutely amazing, how can you not understand this? This is basic human interaction.

-> You give your opinion
-> I give my opinion on your opinion which says that your opinion is wrong
-> You defend your opinion

It isn't that difficult.

Nocebo wrote I'm not contradicting myself but you wouldn't know what I'm actually saying to you because you didn't read my post.

Finally!

Nocebo wrote No, there's a difference between something being implied, like someone saying 'They have the right' when they mean 'They can do what they want with their own accounts' and the complete absence of you saying what you meant.

Who are all these people you keep referring to? You? GTT, who literally said he can't wait to brag about his laptop? Or the guys who agree'd with me?

Me, no. GTT, yes. Copland, yes.
I don't care about what GTT said about his laptop, it's not relevant. You are saying that you implied that you meant people bragging about their presents when you didn't. That is what I'm addressing, you calling people assholes for not understanding what you didn't even imply is what people aren't liking here. That is where people don't agree with you.
I'll say it again, it is possible to agree with one opinion and disagree with another, even if they are from the same person.

You refuse to read a post in which all I do is flame?
Two problems:
1. How do you know that all I'm doing is flaming if you haven't even read it?
2. You don't refuse to read it because you did, finally.

Nocebo wrote This is absolutely astounding, never before on this website have I been confronted with a 10,000+ post member who doesn't understand that this is a discussion forum where opinions are open to being challenged and defended.

You confronted me, sunshine. You're the one who started this shit for no reason, not me.

This didn't start off as a confrontation. It started off as a discussion, then you got defensive and started calling people assholes. That is confrontational.
For no reason? This is a discussion forum. People ]discuss things, that's how this works.

Nocebo wrote Perhaps you will actually respond to it now? Or are you just going to say I'm flaming you again?

I literally told you I was refusing to read the majority of your post because I seen that you had started flaming. That's a completely valid reason to ignore you. I feel like a broken record. Actually read my post and you would see that I am debating your use of anecdotal evidence to back up your opinion.
That is not flaming, you just wanted people to see it as flaming because you couldn't be bothered to respond to it at the time.

Nocebo wrote I'm sorry, I didn't realize that you were sat outside the average teenager's house looking through their windows watching them open their presents and seeing exactly when they decide to take a picture of their presents.

Someone clearly doesn't understand social networking.

Much refutation.

Nocebo wrote Maybe it's their way of showing appreciation.

This isn't the people that I'm referring to though.

Yes it is, you're talking about the people who will take out their phone and brag about their presents on the internet. If that isn't people showing appreciation for what they've got then maybe you'd like to tell me what that is?

Nocebo wrote Why does it matter when they take the pictures?

You clearly misunderstand my point entirely. I'm not mad at photographs. I am fed up of people putting photo's/posts of all the shit they get all over social networking, bragging about it.

You said: The first thing kids do on Christmas now, is let everyone else know how spoiled they were. Yeah, because that's what Christmas is about right?
"here, instead of me using my new iPhone, I'll do a fkn photo shoot"

That is you talking about them taking the pictures as soon as they get their presents.
'The first thing' That isn't even an implication, and this definitely isn't me twisting your words.

You're acting like you implied it. You didn't. You were being pedantic, what I said was using your words verbatim.
That isn't being pedantic.

If it was natural, every one would do it. They don't, thus it isn't really natural. At least, I wouldn't consider getting up on Christmas and immediately posting a photo natural, but hey, that's why I said "I wouldn't call it natural".

Homosexuality is natural, it happens in nature, but obviously not every animal is a homosexual.
That's an analogy.

So no, not everyone would be doing it if it was natural.

Nocebo wrote
And I've already said that pretty much everyone agrees with you there

Stop trying to argue then.

Obviously there are other points being made here which people disagree with. You keep saying 'I'm just having my opinion that people being assholes are assholes why is everyone disagreeing with me omg much hate many victim'
People are disagreeing with other things that you are saying. How do you not understand this after 3 pages of people explaining it to you?

You said yourself that no one disagree's with me lmfao. I'm not defending myself. I have an opinion based on personal experience, and I'm not hurting/harming any one in any way with my opinion, I don't have to defend myself.

Then don't defend yourself, stop replying. But stop saying that people are flaming you and aren't reading what you're saying, or are misunderstanding, when you won't even read what they are saying.
[You did it earlier, even now that you have read what I'm saying this still applies, in case you try to get cute and say 'I did read your stuff obviously, I just replied to it.']

I am genuinely done with this now though. Thank you for reminding me that a lot of people simply don't understand how a discussion works.
Merry Christmas.
