I looked on the stickied post about jailbreaking in an attempt to find help on getting my ipad jail broken however I was a bit confused.

My device is an iOS 7.1.1 Fourth Generation (Model A1459) and the only iPad jailbreaks in the stickied post were for generations and iOS that were not mine.

I'm simply looking for an untethered jailbreak, on the latest possible jailbreak-able version. I have seen jailbreaks on YouTube for iOS devices that are in 9.0, however is it a different process to jailbreak iPads?

Can anybody point me in the right direction for jail breaking? I am also slightly confused on how to update to a specific iOS, as 9.2 is the latest and it is unjailbreakable and I would need to update to 9.0 or 8.4

1. You have to use the program "Pangu", i found their official website and here is the link for the tool: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

2. You cannot update to a specific iOS unless it is being signed, for example only iOS 9.2 is being allowed. You cant just choose an iOS.

Hey man hope everything's well today for you. I come bearing some good news and bad news. Bad news being that unfortunately to the public knowledge there is no existing way of upgrading or downgrading to any specific firmware that is not being signed by Apple. Fortunately for you, there is a good news a long with this. By using the program RedSn0w you can successfully jailbreak any iDevice running the 7.1.1 jailbreak.

I don't quite remember what the rules are anymore about posting download links so I sadly can't provide you with one. But if you look up redsnow jailbreak on youtube you will be able to find everything you need

In all honesty back in the day I found redsn0w more to my preference that's why I refer him to them. They also keep updating old versions of their exploits sporadically. Both fortunately have the same end result, I have heard some complains about Pangu for those old iOS firmwares. But it's most likely people not following instructions properly.

Redsn0w used bootrom to do a lot of its unique features, come iPhone 4s and Apple patches the use of bootrom. Thus, deminishing the power of some of the unique features redsn0w had(changing the start up icon, etc). Not saying they used bootrom for their jailbreak itself because they didn't. But for the things that made people prefer redsn0w.
