Right now, my brother owns the xbox and controller, we were playing cod before he left for football, then he left and I went to my mates house. When I got back, it was broken. No signs of damage on the outside nor rattling. Dimmed out power button and doesn't turn on fortunately turned on by play and charge now when it comes to playing games i.e cod, the charectar looks upwards and spins in a circle.. all the other buttons work according, if someone can fix this I will pay $5, not 'buy a new controller' though.
My opinion is that some soldering has fell off..

You have to open your controller and clean out both thumb sticks, if there are any signs of damage on the thumb sticks replace them.

Yeah once you open the controller, you will be able to see everything inside of it, just look for small dents, and if dusty around the LED's that can affect that, so try to clean it off with one of those air pump things, or wipe it gently with some sort of brush. Also clean out the metal part, the thing that you connect your thumb sticks onto that can also be dirty.
