I went from DMG, lost 1 game and went to GNM. Went on a 7 win streak, tied the next game and deranked to GN3. tf.
But was playing with a friend last night who hasn't played since before the update, he went from MGE to SEM after a WIN.
FeelsBadMan.

Nothing Except your VISIBLE RANKS are different. The community complained about how easy it was to get to global from Supreme, so Valve FIXED it.
Let's say the elo for MG was 100-200. Your elo is now 150. You get +10 elo for each win. Valve raised the elo to 300-450 in the December update. That means you would have to win 15 games straight to actually get to the MG, and if you lose ANY of those 15 games, you derank. Your skill is EXACTLY the same, just not the pretty little .jpg you see next to your name that you think is the coolest thing ever if it has an ak/eagle/globe on it.
As for the team you played against, that has been happening in CSGO since the release. It's called a 5 man.
tl;dr Nothing but the picture you see next to you name is different.

MM sucks right now but if they plan works it will be good. Players will actually have to earn their ranks. No more being carried and playing with people that definitely don't belong at the rank. Don't worry about rank for a while. So many changes it might take a while for people to settle.

An alright explanation but the info is all made up so really you're confusing people, you get differing amounts of elo for wins and losses. Before the game starts CS:GO predicts a score depending on the elo scores of each team, aslong as you get better than their prediction you will GAIN elo and vise versa.
Say you start a game and the enemy team has a higher combined elo, CSGO will predict they'll win 16-10 for example. If you win you'll get ALOT of elo but even if you finish 16-14 you'll get closer to ranking up because you did better than your elo suggests.
There's no way to determine how many wins/losses it will take to rank up/down just keep improving and playing and having FUN and you'll rank up without worrying over it.

There's no way you deranked 3 times from one loss, unless you didnt play for a while, lost your rank, and that was the new one given. You guys dont understand that this is how the ranks are supposed to be. Higher ranks were to easy to get after a vac wave happened, so they finally fixed them. Of course its gonna be a little clunky at first as it was just implemented but it will eventually even out. You weren't supposed to be that high in the first place. You're still playing with people of the same skill, just a different rank that your skill level is in now.

It's just an explanation I've been using that seems SOMEWHAT true. No one but CS devs know how the rank system functions.
