so my friend wants to know if you need to format the hard drive before using it in another pc his pc broke and his internet is sh*t so he has alot of important stuff he couldnt copy cause his pc would blue screen from overheating then after awhile it wouldnt turn on, will he be able to still use the hard drive in his new pc or will he need to reinstall windows 10 and everything he had?, i know nothing about using used parts.

You cannot move Windows from one PC to a different one by moving the hard drive it's installed on. But you can always use a different computer and plug one of these bad boys [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] in to get your important data off

Just save anything on a spare USB stick, or buy one (they are dirt cheap), format the HDD, put it in the new computer, download Windows to a bootable USB and install it to the new HDD.
