I work at Stop And Shop and can fully relate to this. During Christmas, I was working 20-30 hours a week, I have 12 hours next week....

It seems like the position you're working is part time. If you're trying to live off a job it shouldn't be part time.

Yes I am currently part time, but applied for full time since Ive been hired. I understand I'm part time, but if they're going to schedule me 32+ hours during the holidays and I don't get full time benefits then they should be scheduling me a decent amount through out the whole year. it is bs. but yea I'm pt

This is the kind of reason why zero-hour contracts suck. You can go from having enough work and earning enough money to struggling to get by on the necessities.

That's the trouble for younger people, they will almost certainly not get a decent contract for their work considering they are a liability compared to the older generations.

Part time is literally the worst dude,

I worked as a waiter/bar tender for abit at a bar, one week I'd have 30 hours the next week i'd have 8 hours.. It was just ridiculous.

Now i'm on

12 hour shifts 6 am - 6 pm
7 days on 7 days off.

It's amazing, I only work quater of the year and on full time wages.

I'm on a zero hour contract however, I'm lucky as they give me around 25-30 hours each week when they're not busy. If i was you though you might want to consider looking for another job.

Can't claim it is that bad, it depends on the establishment where you work.
I worked part-time as a bartender for several months with my contract giving me a minimum 25 hours work each week. My actual working hours were around 35 per week because I asked for them.

As much as I hate holiday season at UPS the pay was great. I worked 70/week hours during
December and made so much overtime. There was one say that I worked 14 hours.

Now that peak season is over I'm down to working at most 25 hours a week.

I cannot wait to become a driver and have a normal shift, only 3 more months...
