Okay so I'm about to get dark matter but I just got the butterfly knife out of the black market, do I now have to get that gold to get dark matter?

No you don't, I believe you only have to get the camos on the Butterfly knife if you want to also use Dark Matter on that

If im correct, you can use Dark Matter on it but not Gold or Diamond.

Unfortunately you can't it works the same way as the combat knife same challenges etc
