Hey guys, I recently got a new PC. I'm pretty happy with it, but I need a new GPU. I bought a GTX 750 ti FTW as a placeholder for a better one. My budget is about $300 and I just want to know what the most powerful card within my budget is. Thanks in advance!

My setup

ASUS motherboard- [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
CPU- i5 6500 3.2 ghz
GPU- GTX 750 ti FTW
RAM- 8G
PSU- Corsair CX600 (Yes I know I should get a new one)

I'd grab a 970

390 would mean a PSU upgrade or it would be cutting it close on your current unit.

I'd go for the AMD R9 390 at that budget as its $50 less than a GTX970 and your power supply should cope.

You really think my power supply would work? It says 750w required.

Generally a graphics card maker will overestimate wattage just in case end users don't have very good or old power supplies. Yours should be fine with it but you can google search CX600 and R9 390 to see if anyone else has tried it.

If you were worried or wanted it as an excuse then you could change your PSU with the money you saved over a 970 or if you had a bit more towards it.

Either of the cards will suffice anyways, the 390 will outperform the 970 slightly, but the 970 uses a hell of a lot less power.

And if you're gaming at 1080p, it really makes no difference what card you get. Both will max most games with ease.

Go with the 970 Craig suggested unless you're going to get a PSU upgrade then buy a r9 390
