Just recently started playing this game. To me it seems as if the difficulty level is high as I have had many aggarvating deaths where one should should have lived or given a second chance as falling off a ledge or cliff unintentionally is very, very, very annoying. Does the game get easier as you progress with better weapons and armor or am I doomed to always be a victim of quick deaths setting me back?
EDIT: How do you aquire magic and use magic with a character that doesn't start with magic? I'm completely lost with how to do anything with or about magic... I'm stuck at a part where the soul arrow attack is almost necessary but cannot figure out how to get it and use it. I'm at the forest of the fallen giants or whatever it may be and with the first merchant about ready to drop down the ladder next to her.

i mean as your weapons/armor get better, the enemies also get stronger. That's just how the game is though.

Best tip for the game I tell all my friends, take the game slowly and learn attack patterns of enemies. Once you start learning how the enemies function, you will get better at the game.
Learning how to dodge is another big factor, as you can dodge a lot of damage.

I love dark souls 2 SOTFS.
To use magic and spells, you need to level up intelligence and attunement.
If you need any help please ask, iv played this game for over 1000+ hours on both xbox 360 and PS3 and now Xbox one.
I know a few things on this game.

Dude when i platinumed this game i deleted it and told myself i will never play this game again. i can honestly say i raged a lot and threw my controller a couple of times but i still love the franchise. using magic makes this game super easy and there are methods with "bonfire ascetic" to use on giant lord to give you 450k+ souls. look it up on youtube. Effigys will also be a problem at least to me it was. if you find an effigy in a chest use a bonfire ascetic to respawn it in the chest. i suggest using summons if you find bosses to much to handle. when your low level summon signs are all over the place. once you hit new game+ it becomes rare.
