I just built a gaming computer, it's my first build. The only problem is that my Ethernet doesn't work. I plug direct from my router to my PC, but my PC says there's no connection... Although the lights next to the port on both my router and my PC indicate that the Ethernet cable is connected, which makes me believe this may NOT be a hardware problem. The motherboard is the Z170-A from Asus.
I appreciate all help, and will give max rep.

Which OS did you install? If it's Windows 7 or 8/8.1 then you need to install the LAN driver.
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
On a different PC go to that page, choose your OS for your new PC and download the LAN driver. Transfer that by USB to your PC, install & reboot and you should have working internet on your PC.
