Straight Outta Compton had a plethora of black actors in it, all providing great performances, yet the only two people nominated for Oscars in the production of that movie were white, the writers.

I'm undecided on whether or not racism is involved, given that the academy is run by a bunch of old white men I wouldn't be surprised if it was.

I just find other reasons to be annoyed at them.

Most of the movies you've listed do not pertain to the most popular genres among America. I love NWA. I always have since the 90's but I don't think any actor from that movie deserves an Academy Award. I haven't heard of most of these movies. Star Wars was fantastic. It wasn't the greatest but it was good. Academy Awards are for the best of the best. It's not a freakin charity. We didn't stop watching basketball because African-American's essentially took over the sport.

Why are you focusing on the most popular movies? The Oscars aren't just for popular movies.
The 6028 members of the academy who decide the nominees aren't only watching the most popular films of the year.

And by the logic of more popular movies being nominated The Danish Girl shouldn't have been nominated at all, it isn't even in the top 100 for the box office of 2015, whereas Straight Outta Compton, Concussion, Creed, and The Hateful Eight are, and are all quite high up on it.

Like I said, I'm not sure if it's racism, two years without a single black nomination is quite incredible though.

The part I bolded is the argument I see people using on this matter. I firmly, one hundred percent, do not believe that there are people deciding Oscar nominees thinking "this person is black. Not worthy of a nomination." Black people are a very small minority of the population in general, and even a smaller minority in Oscar-worthy actors and actresses. I don't see the problem and the traction this story has gotten honestly infuriates me.

You are probably right.
If the argument being used is that it's because old white men just don't like black people, then why would all of the gay and transgender rights movies also be getting nominations [this year's being The Danish Girl.]
They aren't stereotypically big advocates of those lifestyles either, so the logic doesn't really hold up.

I hate millennials, I truly do. Everything has to be a race-crime. Everybody wants a hand-out.

I find this whole thing so selfish. Because they didn't win any awards, they don't want to attend the show? I cannot think of a single movie that I watched last year with a black actor who is worthy of an Oscar. Maybe one of the lead/supporting roles in Straight Outta Compton? Then again that was their first movie performance ever. Any other movie/performance (Sam Jackson, Hateful Eight; Will Smith, Concussion) didn't compare to the other stellar performances by white actors. If they want to win an Oscar, then they need to step up their game
