As of yesterday, 2/4/2016, I am officially a cook at McDonalds. I applied about a week ago for multiple jobs around my town. I received a call two days ago asking if I could come in for an interview at one of my local McDonalds. I accepted the offer and was interviewed yesterday.

As it was my first interview I was nervous quite a bit. I just tried to be as calm as possible and follow all of the proper interview etiquette, which I felt went well. In fact it must've went decently well because I received a call an hour after my interview saying that they would like to hire me.

I go in for my orientation day (fill out my W4, obtain uniform, and learn the basic rules) on President's Day (15th), then after that I should get my first schedule where I will complete training. This is a big accomplishment for me because I have been putting it off for awhile. I dreaded having to get a job because I didn't want to let go of the last bits of my true leisure time and childhood that I would have. I do however want a car and a lot of other needs that cost money, so I need a job in order to pay for them.

If I had to give anyone any advice about a job, get one as soon as you are 16. However I wouldn't recommend getting a cleaning job unless you are highly into cleaning. Cleaning jobs suck...

I do agree that cleaning jobs suck. But you can actually make some decent money if you're still in highschool just working on the side. But congrats on Mickey D's

Oh boy do I wish that they gave $10 an hour. Here in Kansas minimum wage is $7.25 and McDonald's pays $8. Almost any other place pays the same or less, so it's actually isn't that bad of a job. Not to mention the benefits they even give me, as a high schooler....

If I keep my job and go through college they will pay 40% of my college tuition for me so that is a great deal!

Wait wait wait 1 second, he got a job and you're slagging him off?
Yet I checked your profile and your occupation is "don't work yet" don't be a dick dude, if you're going to slag someone off for doing something for a living make sure you're actually doing something for a living

Well done, man. Whatever it may be, a job is a job at the end of the day and you're earning yourself some money. My first job was with FedEx, then I moved to Waitrose and finally I am now a Phone Shop Customer Assistant for Tesco Mobile (UK). Good luck with it!
