ios 9 can cause error 53 which will apparently brick your phone if it detects that the device have been fixed/repaired by a non-apple technicians.

It appears to happen when you have replaced your iDevice's Home Button.

This is ridiculous news. I always smash my phone screen and not paying Apples prices, nor waiting that long.

Third party people do it in 45 mins.

This is the most ridiculous thing Apple have done. So many people are going to leave Apple for this. Bloody stupid that you'd have to go through them just to use your own phone.

Still worth the risk. I'm not paying Apple the price of a new phone to repair something small. third party will do it for half the price or less and in a little amount of time too.

I think this is something that Apple helped push into the light and the error might be more obscure than they would like you to think so that they can scare people into coming to them for repairs.

I am still going to repair mine and my families devices myself instead of paying Apple to do it. Not really worrying about the error bricking my devices.

It only gets the error if you replace the home button, and with my own experience of fixing iPhones you don't need to too replace the home button unless it gets smashed with the screen (very rare), the only time I'd imagine a phone fixer would need replace it and not use your original one is if they were careless and broke the cable from the home button to the logic board, so it will be fine as long as you tell the phone guy to not change your home button

You're right, i've never had my home button changed. Usually just the screen.
