Alright guys
I am looking for a dirt bike to go on a track near mine. Me and my friend are both after bikes, however my friend is after a pit bike because of money limitations and I am after a big wheel. BUT, I do not want to be spending well over £1000 (£1,400) when I will not be using the bike as frequently as I would like to. I went to a shop today which sells pit bikes and I sat on a 125cc and it was way too small for me. There was a 140cc which had a bigger frame (almost a big wheel frame) but it doesn't seem right spending £800 on a 140cc pit bike when I could get a 125 big wheel somewhere for relatively the same price or even for a little more.
Does anyone know of cheap big wheeled bikes ? I have looked on eBay and gumtree and ones being sold are no where near my location.
Thanks

Don't bother getting a pitbike, they're cheap Chinese shit that need constant maintenance.
Your friend should get something like a CR85, KX85, YZ85 as you can pick them up for around £500. They're also just as quick as the 125cc 4 strokes off the line.
You should get a used 125 or maybe even a 250, just have a look on ebay. Heck you can buy a 450 for £1400!
Also they will hold their money for when you need to sell.

As alpina said, don't bother going for a pit bike.. I use to have a Suzuki RM85 large wheel but if you go with 2 strokes you will just have so much more fun.
I believe I got mine for just over £1000 but they will be around £600 now second hand.
If I could recommend anything I'd recommend a Suzuki rmz250 probably only because I have one but it has more than enough power to have fun at a local track.

Thank you guys for commenting, it helps !
I would love to have a two stroke in comparison to a four
The 85's sell for over £1000 and for a decent 125 the price is a considerable amount more. It would be nice if there were places nearby which sold them cheap. Or even if an eBay listing was fairly close by.
The names of the bikes helped guys, thank you
I will continue to look
All the best !

Bought at CR85 for £470, just wait for one to come up cheap.

I race Pro at my local races and have been on dirtbikes since the age of 3, Pitbikes aren't worth the time or money, 2 strokes are a blast but i made the transition to 4 strokes due to the fact the more power they deliver, Id highly recommend any 250 four stroke but personal opinion ive been more comfortable on my yz 250f than any other 250f and ive owned every brand of 250f other than KTM

Don't mess with pitbikes.
Get a big bike. 250Fs are nice, but pretty pricey for rebuilds.
If you got two stroke they're way cheaper, that's why I sold my 250f and got a YZ250.
Pitbikes are for the pits at tracks.
Big bikes is where the real riding is done.
Don't get me wrong, I had a KLX110 pitbike, but you can only do so much on it.
If you're looking into Yamaha get an '05 or up YZ125, or YZ250.
That's the year that they switched to aluminum frames.

I have settled for an 08 KX 85, rapid because of all of the mods.
I has also had a full engine rebuild etc. Can always sell at a later date and go for a 125 / 250
Edit: didn't purchase the bike due to believe it was a stolen bike.
