MEANT TO POST THIS HERE. Sorry for the duplicate.

I have heard countless times that "things will never be like Cod4 or halo 3."

I think there's a huge feeling of nostalgia surrounding gamers who make this claim. Sometimes I think it is the fact that these were the games that happened to come out right around the arrival of the xbox 360 so many more people got into gaming at the release of this system. Even more started to play online.

It may be bold to say but imagine BO3 being the black ops and it happened to come out in 2007 like Cod 4 did. Maybe that would be the game to beat in the minds of gamers.

Aside from the emerging interest in ripping players off for money, I think developers are moving in the right direction, gameplay wise. Technology will only improve which makes me wonder if these games that come out are actually that bad. It may just be that they are far-fetched from the core games we all played as Xbox Live and PSN took of in the mid 2000s.

Sadly, it may be a feeling we will never surpass because the old games will always have a spot in our minds and hearts as some of the most fun games ever.

Or maybe I'm wrong.

But this is a forum and I wanted to start a discussion

Yea I think it's true that nostalgia has a big role in our favorite games.

I think it is for sure that were growing up. I remember when I was 11 years old turning on CoD 5 and feeling like it was a privledge to own the game. I thought it was the best thing ever. Same thing with BO1. I loved playing that game. I wish they would do reverse compatibility on one of those two, that'd be great but they really did move in a worse direction with Ghosts and Advanced Warfare. AW wasn't as bad as Ghosts but I feel like they redeemed themselves a little with BO3.

Developers are just slacking hard nowadays, although I do believe that it is more so that we are just growing older.

As we get older we have more in life to do than just sit home and play games all day. Now we have job, bills, and college so we are busy all the time.

If like getting older is what does it for me. I use to love playing nw2 for hours when I was in high school. Now I get on the game and can barely play a few matches, it just get boring really quick to me.

I would have to say a bit of both. What we grew up with will always be the best in our minds, as it was what we had. This is normal. However I have noticed that alot of newer games don't meet our standards. I feel as though this is because newer games are designed and produced to appeal to younger people.
