Is it that games aren't good anymore or we are growing up?

I have heard countless times that "things will never be like Cod4 or halo 3."
I think there's a huge feeling of nostalgia surrounding gamers who make this claim. Sometimes I think it is the fact that these were the games that happened to come out right around the arrival of the xbox 360 so many more people got into gaming at the release of this system. Even more started to play online.
It may be bold to say but imagine BO3 being the black ops and it happened to come out in 2007 like Cod 4 did. Maybe that would be the game to beat in the minds of gamers.
Aside from the emerging interest in ripping players off for money, I think developers are moving in the right direction, gameplay wise. Technology will only improve which makes me wonder if these games that come out are actually that bad. It may just be that they are far-fetched from the core games we all played as Xbox Live and PSN took of in the mid 2000s.
Sadly, it may be a feeling we will never surpass because the old games will always have a spot in our minds and hearts as some of the most fun games ever.
Or maybe I'm wrong.
But this is a forum and I wanted to start a discussion

I feel the exact same way and always will. Ever since black ops 2 I have not liked COD since, the games I think are just not as good anymore. Not because we are getting older just most games are not like mw2 and cod4.

I think it may just be that we are getting older, since if a game is fun, Ill still play a whole lot of it. Although it could be hard to find a game as good as the ones that were released in 07 like cod and halo. But yeah, interesting question. A lot of us in general just dont have the time for games like we used to, that could just be a factor as well.
