Anyone know if there are any online websites I could go to about getting a custom tattoo design? I know what the idea of what I want is, just want to get a custom design made.

I don't know of any place you could go online, but why not just go to an actual tattoo place? They will talk to you and see what you want, take some time and draw something out, and then call you back.

This is usually the best idea. Make sure the shop you go to only does custom tattoos, and have some money ready for a deposit for them to draw up some ideas. If you live near a major city , you'll want to go there for the best results.

I would definitely go in somewhere and have an artist draw it up for you. I have quite a few tattoos, all which are custom. I would research places around you, look at artists portfolios and also read reviews of the place on google or something. Tattoos are permanent and you don't want to end up with something stupid looking that you will have for the rest of your life.
Usually, the better artists are more expensive as well, so do your research!
Good luck on finding an artist!
Also, even if it is your first one, be willing to spend money depending on how big the design is, it is worth a lot of money if it looks great, don't cheap out!

You can go to the actual shop that you are looking at getting the work done and they can do custom work for you.

Tattoos are far from permanent. They fade after 3 years or so if you don't get them touched up and can easily be covered or lasered. However, if you get the wrong artist, they can make you look real stupid and wanna keep your shirt on for a few years. I learned from personal experience lmao

I would say they aren't so far from permanent, unless you are willing to spend 3x the money you paid for the tattoo to get it removed. Also, saying they fade after 3 years is semi- true, but not like they disappear, idk who you've seen with a close to completely faded tattoo after 3 years, but it was most definitely a shitty one at that. Also covering doesn't change the fact it's on your skin.

I would just google tattoo ideas but the best bet is to go to the artist and have them show you some of their work and they can customize it for you.

Go to a tattooist in your town/city and ask for a sketch to be made?

I would say go to the tattoo parlor and talk to them about it, give them some ideas of what you might want and then they could possabily add on from there.
