That's your fault for not doing research before you buy... You can get a HDMI lead that won't be any different for £10 lmao..

I've used and owned 4k monitors and TV's for the past year or so. Paying £100 for a HDMI cable is the most retarded thing I've heard... Why on earth did you do that? If you'd actually done some research instead of throwing money at it, you may actually understand some things. So here's some info.

To transmit 4k @ 60Hz you need a HDMI cable that has transfer speeds of 18Gbps, this is called HDMI2.0. 1080p has a transfer rate of around 10.8Gbps, this is HDMI1.4/1.4a. So unless you have a cable that can transfer 18Gbps or more, you won't achieve 60Hz anyway.

There is no 4k content streamed for free as of yet, only free clips from UltraFlix and Youtube, but they are encoded ans they look shite.

The TV is fine, you just have no idea what one is and how to use one.

TL;DR: Don't be a melon...

You got it on WBW and is capable of 27Gbps if its the Gold one.
As Craig mentioned you only need something that can do 18+
So the Black series that Currys sell will do. Even though the box says suitable for 1.4, if you wanna be sure go for the Silver Series which is 21Gbps.

As for 4K.
BT Europe
Sky Q (soon)
Netflix
Amazon Prime
Youtube
Are all I can think of at the moment.

The TV will be upscale also, you have to remember your Virgin only comes through at 720

Buying a 4K TV and expecting instant 4K was daft, but also the Sales Person should have asked a few more questions.
Either way I would return the LG as its dump with motion rate.

Hate to break it to you but you clearly haven't done your research on 4K hardware. I Wouldnt say there is anything wrong with 4K other than it's just not ready yet as new 4K technologies develop over time e.g. HDR.

£100 on a HDMI cable is absurd and you are an idiot for paying that much in the first place although no surprise with the way this topic has been worded. For 4K you need a HDMI 2.0 cable.

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ] - Oh look, a HDMI 2.0 cable for 7 quid... was that so hard to find?

YouTube is shit for 4K thanks to Google's VP9 codec so I would stay away from that really.

As for Netflix... well, 1080p Blu-ray's look better than 4K streamed from Netflix and other streaming services.

As it stands, in the UK at least, there is hardly any mainstream 4K material to watch besides porn, fact, hence why I said 4K isn't ready yet... just another reason to why is isn't ready.

4K blu-rays aren't available in this country yet nor are the players and most 4K TV's that you see in shops aren't even HDR ready.

You don't believe in paying for movies, well good luck finding much 4K Movies or TV shows besides the shit ripped from Netflix and other services. Majority of the good stuff in 4K is on private trackers. However I'll leave you a little proof that very little 4K is available.

TL;DR If you're going to buy into 4K, at least do your research first.
