2. You may have a wire short somewhere, i don't see how this would cause the car to turn off but it's possible.
3. Clean your air filter and make sure it isn't clogged.
4. Check that your car isn't overheating and you have the correct engine coolant

When was the last time you replaced your fuel filter? If your fuel filter is clogged, or your injectors are clogged you won't get enough fuel and it will not keep your car running. There is a lot of stuff that can cause a car to randomly shut off, I like to start at fuel supply because fuel = go juice, so no fuel = no go.

I checked the air filter and it's actually pretty dirty and thanks, 3rd gens are way cool

I have no idea when it was last changed, I got the car with 154k miles and it now has 160k miles but it's also been idleing pretty rough when on park or drive

I'd just go ahead and replace your fuel filter then. It's probably not your issue, but it's like 20 bucks and it's super easy to replace. If it is clogged, that is your issue.

My brothers 1989 Firebird had this problem but I'm drawing a blank with what was wrong with it. We fixed it though, if it comes across my mind I'll let you know because it's really annoying me lol

I had a problem like this with one of my cars, turned out one of the fuel injectors was screwed.. It would shut off the entire car if it was at low revs.

You use a multimeter on the resistance settings and measure the ohms of the injector. All injectors should be within .5 ohms of each other. If an injector is out of the resistance specification, that injector is bad.

Is it hard to get into the fuel tank? So I can do it myself
