Just because someone drives fast doesn't mean they're going to kill someone. If they're a good driver they can handle it.. Just because you can't doesn't mean they can't.

Now that I got that out, there's no reason he should have given you a warning.
He could have arrested you on that.
I didn't even get a warning for doing 50 in a 35 with only one other traffic violation, and I always respect police officers.

So if someone walks out in front of you, what's gonna kill them, 45 or 90? Speed limits are in place to protect people, nobody wants a death on their conscience.

I'm pretty sure at 45 I'd still kill them. It was in the middle of no where and it was a narrow.
Im not saying it is the worst thing in the world to do but if it was in the middle of nowhere why did you get stopped?

No idea. Cops usually don't sit on the road. It was a state trooper.

They'll have more chance of survival getting hit at 45 than 90.

Driving should be taken seriously, abusing the ability can often be fatal. Whilst being a skilled driver can reduce the risk of a fatality it does not eliminate the risk. It's stupidity in my eyes, all it takes is one split second and you've took someones life. If not your own. There is a reason we have speed limits, sure we're all guilty of breaking them. I have, I'll hold my hands up. I've done my fair share of stupid s***. I've paid the price and I've learned. It's a serious action with quite serious consequences. Be safe buddy, don't put your own or anybody else's life at risk, for the sake of speeding.

If someone is hit by a car at 65 kph they are 90% likely to be killed.
If someone is hit by a car at 45 kph they are 50% likely to be killed.
If someone is hit by a car at 30 kph they are 10% likely to be killed.

To be honest, you got off lightly, you were breaking the law and got a warning, surprised you didn't get a fine or something. But at least nothing more serious happened..

This is MPH. So 45 KPH is about 60 MPH

Still fast enough to effectively kill someone.

Yin wrote I respect nice cops, but I can't help but question this cop's judgement. Someone going 90 in a 45 is nothing to take lightly. I mean, when would be the time to actually punish the person? At 100? After they have killed someone?

Well, killing a person in a car crash is a different question to answer than going 90 in a 45 mph zone, I totally agree what you're saying though.
