MK4 wrote That makes no sense? It's obviously going to be harder to control a car when it's going faster and not only will it be harder, the damage will be greater. You could swerve off the road and hit a bunch of kids walking on the side-way and kill all of them because you "couldn't control the car", but if you were going a little slower, under that speed, it would be easier to control and maybe you might only hurt a couple, not kill them. Not to mention, you're going to prison either way and I'd love to see you use that excuse in court "Sorry judge, but I didn't think it would make a difference if I went over the speed limit because I wouldn't have been able to control the car anyway".

If you're going faster, it's going to take you longer to react and longer to hit the brakes. It will also take the brakes longer to stop the car because the wheels are turning faster, so more force will need to be applied to slow them down. Do you even have a basic understanding of physics or the human body? How can a rabbit jumping onto the road cause a serious accident if you're going 20 MPH? I also find it hilarious that the person speeding, couldn't even convert miles and kilometers. It really shows their intelligence accurately.

At this point, I think you're just trolling to be honest, like where do I even begin with this one. First of all, you have to take the victim's body into consideration here, the damage will be far more visible at a higher speed, so it will be likely that their family wont even be able to recognize them. Secondly, it's a lot worse for you in court, trying to claim it was "an accident" when you well over the speed limit. As I said before, you wont have any time to react at 80 mph, where-as at 60, you will be more aware of your surroundings and actually able to see what's going on. Perhaps, you could have swerved out of the way or the victim would have had time to jump to safety?

The faster you're going, the more damage you will cause. It's not worth someone dying because you're so selfish that you want to get to your destination a little earlier.

You're so dumb. The first statement makes perfect sense. A car is not hard to control, even going faster. Because you could be speeding on one road but going that same speed as the limit on another road. It doesn't mean it's harder to control. It's only hard to control driving fast if you suck at driving.

On the second statement. How could a rabbit jumping on the road cause an accident in any situation speeding or not. If you swerve for a rabbit you're a fool. And what are you on about with converting miles and kilometers? I never mentioned miles and kilometers or attempted to convert anything, are you senile?

And to the third statement, I don't know how someone so pessimistic can live a happy life. You seem to always expect the worst. Just because you speed, that does not mean you'll ever hit anyone. I've been driving for years and never been in an accident and I'm always going 5-15 over. Hell, I drive 80 on the highway with state troopers behind me, and I move out of the way so they can go by even faster.

You sound like a hypocrite, as if you've never gone over the speed limit once. For any reason ever. Without thinking you're going to kill someone for it? Lmao, Either that or you don't even drive, and it's easy to sit there and say never to speed.

How do I sound like a hypocrite? Where did I say that I do speed? Or that I don't speed? I just stated that It was pathetic that you were trying to justify speeding, as if it was acceptable. I just drive to school and back and sometimes to parties and what not. It's very easy to follow the speed limit on the roads and there's no need to be driving over the limit.

What are you on about with the first statement? The faster a car is going, the harder it is to control. Not to mention environment, such as rain, water, snow etc. And if you have a fast car, you could have rear wheel drive which would make it even harder to control.

On the second statement, If you'd actually read the original post and a couple after, OP tried to convert miles to Kilometres and went full-retard with his conversion, so I was using this as an example that drivers who speed aren't the brightest stars. As for the rabbit, maybe a sheep or person would be a better example. Irrelevant, the point is still there. If you're driving faster, there's less chance of you stopping due to reactions, braking and other factors.

I don't see how it's hard not to expect the worst when it's likely to happen. There's no excuse for speeding, you're needlessly putting your life and others in danger for no reason.

Before I even read all of that, I want to show you something.

Everyone is saying that no one died. Just because no one got somehow killed this time it does not mean that someone wont next time. Just because you may be a good driver does not mean that you have full control of the car. My grandparents owned a vehicle repair company, the amount of cars that would be coming in just for speeding and crashing was amazing.

Also to the person that posted two picture's is breaking two laws. speeding and using a mobile phone or camera is illegal.

You have to be trolling.

Saying that like it's going to be the same in every situation.

There is a speed limit for a reason, not just in case you hit people, but in case you hit other cars.
Especially at night, like it was in OP's case, he could have quite easily hit another car which didn't have their lights on, and whether he or they are culpable [it would be both] they would both also be dead.

Cars can withstand faster impacts than a human body can, obviously, but as not every car is built the same they have to put a general speed limit in.
In this case, it was 45.

Everything else is irrelevant. You plan for the worst and hope for the best.
You don't think 'Oh well I'm such a great driver and this road is obviously clear to my flawed human eyes that I'm going to double the speed limit which has been put there with careful consideration for traffic flow and accident prevention.'

You just don't, OP should have his license suspended and this cop was stupid for not doing his job properly.

I think everyone not condemning OP's actions on this topic should seriously re-evaluate getting a license, or just looking up pictures of cars after accidents at this type of speed.

It's not worth it, it's not cool, and if you end up as a dismembered piece of flesh lying on the road in front of a smoldering wreck whilst the emergency services try to locate your missing limbs then you deserve no empathy from anyone.

I got pulled over for having my headlights off in the middle of the day and got a $335 ticket. Sgo.

If you drive a motorcycle, it's usually the law to burn your headlights at all times.
