Kind of stupid. Ebay would be a safer way to handle transactions...

Because that would make it off site communication, and the staff can do nothing if it was done elsewhere.

First off the ebay link is being provided through TTG.
Second off, TTG can't get your money back. All they can do is ban. At least eBay offers payment protection.

It is linking offsite, simple as that.
eBay is riddled with scammers.
People still use Paypal on this site, which again you can get your money back.
If all communication is done through this site the staff know whats happening.
If its done elsewhere they cant tell if it has been tampered with.

I don't think this is ultimately true. If you get scammed on eBay, you get your money back (MOST of the time). Simple as that.
If you get scammed on here, it is much more difficult and complicated situation.

It's much more likely that you get scammed on here than on eBay. You have access to sellers history, reputation level, as well as feedback left for that seller.
However, The Tech Game really did bolster their selling policies on this website. Back when I joined (MW2) days, people were scamming people of Microsoft Points/Live very, very often. Now, you need to be stickied in the Modded Lobbies section to sell your service and I am pretty sure you need to be a Trusted Seller to sell consoles as well.

It's just because TTG wants to keep all transactions within the TTG site. It makes it safer when someone gets scammed to be able to get their money back.
