Hey, hello whats up guys its Jamey (aka the FutEconomist). Im an economics major who loves talking about markets. I dont claim to know anything special but at least for me, applying what Im learning in university helps me better understand why the FUT market behaves the way it does.

Quick Note: If you are more of a visual person, you may find my video where I talk about this topic helpful

Introduction:
Earlier today, EA announced on their Twitter ( [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] ) three mains things regarding their 7 year FUT anniversary celebration; that there will be free daily packs/premium packs, a tournament, and (most interestingly) they released position change cards based on what the players play in international competition.

I think that this is a great opportunity to make some long term investments, in addition to opening the door to some interesting short term trading methods.

Let me know what you plan doing with these new position change cards? Which ones will you invest in? Will you invest at all? Let me know your thoughts!

Short Term Trading:
This is a snipers dream. Much like the winter upgrades, there are going to be plenty of players that are going to pack a one of these card will have no idea that its value is far higher than the normal card.

This is especially true because of the daily free packs. This means that there are going to be many average players packing these cards especially around the time that the packs are released (usually midnight UK time).

What Ill be Doing
For the next week or so, in between games I will be trying my luck at sniping. I will target the mid tier players such as Turan, Mascherano, Vela, Nani, Mertens, Mendel, Caceres, and Alderweireld. Why these players? I think that these are the players that people will most likely overlook the increased value on.

When the average player packs one of these cards they are much less likely to take the time to realize that it is a position change and are more likely to just list them based on their average price when they compare price.

Buyer Beware
As a warning however, especially in the beginning of the week, you are going to want to make sure that if you win one of these cards cheap, that you list them relatively quickly. A quick look a futbin will tell you that the prices of these cards are dropping relatively quickly and will continue to do so for the rest of the week. I liken the release of these cards to the release of a fresh TOTW which brings me to my next point about investing.

Investing Opportunities
Obviously, EA has never released something quite like this before, so I am a bit hesitant about investing/making investment recommendations.

However, similar to the TOTW, once these players go out of packs on the 28th I do think that their prices are due for a healthy bump.

What Cards/How to Invest
Im not going to make any specific recommendations here for fear of skewing prices, but below are a number of my general recommendations:

Think about what position changes you are most likely to see yourself using
Were you absolutely stoked when you saw that you could now play Rudy at left back? Probably not. If you think this is also the case for other FUT players, then I wouldnt recommend investing in that card.

Think about the niche that this new player will play in a possible team
Are they now filling a gap in a particular country, league, or creating a link that you think is especially vital?

Stay away from the superstars

There are going to be a couple of players that are going to be way overpriced because they are going to be overhyped by YouTubers and such I think you know who Im talking about
Similar to the investing strategy that you use for buying TOTW cards, you will want to wait until the end of the week (I usually do the second to last day), to purchase your investments

Finally, because of the unique nature of these cards, I do think that it will be worth it to spend the extra time and try and win one of the cards on a snipe.

Yes, it will take extra time, but I think the potential to make these snipes is relatively high given the conditions mentioned above.

Plus, if you are going to have some of your coins tied up, it might as well be for a strong profit margin

Conclusion
Of course, this is just my opinion and you should treat them as such. Remember that the TOTS of the season is drawing near and there is a chance that these gold cards might not have the rebound that many (including myself) are predicting.

That being said, I dont think the sniping method has any real downside. The only factor to consider is that you will want to list them back up on the market relatively quickly to avoid the drop that will progress throughout the week.

Yeah, I've been hearing that from a lot of other traders. EA have been pretty difficult to predict this year. They crushed some investors dream with how bad the Saint Patties day tournament reward was.

thanks btw!
