I am new to building computers and would like to try it out. I would like it to be able to run most games at high settings and be able to use video editing software well. my budget is $1000, Can someone please help me get started and suggest what i should get? I don't need peripherals i have a old keyboard and mouse that should work and i already have a monitor.

Unlocked chip on a locked board
212 EVO in a 1k budget...?
SSD is meh
Case is meh
Optical drives arent necessary
You could have added peripherals in the build..
OP: What is the max you are willing to go? Is it 1k maximum?
