Hey everyone, I'm looking to build a new computer for my Graduate Research and then probably going to switch it over to more of a editing system afterwards.
My budget is $1,500.
As for the computer itself, I'm going to need to run WRF, which is a weather research model which means I'm going to be using Linux (Not needing an OS). Priority here needs to be on the processor and RAM, but a decent amount of Disk Space (500GB+) would be nice. I'm using a wireless internet connection so having that built in would be an added plus.
Since this is a "gaming" forum, I didn't leave that out of my mind. A nice video card would also be great since I do plan on eventually moving it over to a editing / gaming machine once I finish with my Graduate Research.
I'm also going to need some peripherals (Mouse, Keyboard, and Monitor).
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Assuming you need it in USD.
If you wanted to spend most of the budget to get the best performance;

If you want to spend less, you could still get a cheaper keyboard + mouse, drop down to an i5 or get less RAM;

Thanks for the quick replies, I'm probably going to solidify everything tomorrow.
My main priority as stated is going to be for performance and RAM is a big big needed aspect of it (WRF requires a motherload in terms of running, both RAM and performance wise). So a few questions regarding the lists you gave me.
@_Skittle: The first one I'm assuming is built primarily for performance purposes, which would be a great need. Eventually I'm planning on switching the computer to more of a gaming / editing rig after I'm done with the research project, what kind of stuff would the video card allow me to do there?
I did read that the MOBO supports up to like 192GB of RAM, what kind of parts would I be looking to get if I needed to go that far (Hypothetically, I honestly expect 16GB to work fine, but just in case).
And lastly, expansion in general. With the build list you gave me there, what level of upgrades could I eventually be able to do later on (Obviously more $ = better or more parts)?
Thanks again for the help!

The first build would be fine for anything and gaming at 1080p, you could upgrade the GPU at a later date to something like a 970 or 980 Ti depending on what resolutions you play at.

Alright, apologies for the quick revival here.
Got all the parts yesterday and started putting things together (That was a fun challenge), but there's a bit of an issue.
The CPU Fan that was selected at least a small bit of the plastic piece for the fan is covering the Slot 1 for the RAM on the motherboard, which as you know for quad channel mode is required (I can't boot up due to the improper configuration).
While swapping out the CPU fan for a different one is definitely an option (albeit, I'd prefer not to have to spend a lot more since I just got done buying all of the current parts), is there any other way to go about fixing this issue, and if so how?
Thanks again!
