Everybody who used to use ttg back in the day remembers its glory days of when even modding your gamerscore was cool as ****. question here is are these things still possible on new gens or did the community of console gaming just die completely along with Call Of Duty. Genuine question about modding would like serious replies. is Jtagging ever gonna be a thing for xbox one?

There will probably be mods eventually for the xbox one but probably something along the lines of USB mods or similar, I don't think there'll be anything like Jtags or soft mods. Nothing big like that, the console gaming community hasn't died at all you're just probably on the wrong forums.

It's definitely died down but once Xbox ones are jtag-able I think modding/hacking will get big again

it's available to everyone but once you enter dev mode in order to convert back to retail you have to do a factory reset which ultimately deletes everything from the hard drive. Which won't be a problem for those who have external drives.

I hope you don't actually think external drives will be some kind of bypass to this. I doubt Microsoft will make the same mistakes as before with dev kits. And about the external drives, any devices plugged into a system, to operate, must exist. What I mean by that is if you plug a USB drive into your computer, over USB, it goes into your motherboard, and your motherboard knows it is there and is obviously able to control it. I would guess that the dev kit software wipes all devices connected to the system.

They probably use token based one time auth for the file. Or I would at least hope so. After the Xbox 360, I'm sure Microsoft is thinking 5 steps ahead in terms of security.
