I am going into engineering next fall and im having trouble finding a laptop. Obviously I cannot get a mac because a large majority of programs do not run on OSX.

Price Range: up to $1800

My requirements:
GTX 950 and up
8GB ram and up
Must have an SSD, would be nice to have a HDD too.
Under 6 pounds
Preferably a new Skylake processor
Would last at least 3 hour for typing and browsing online for class.
12-16in screen nothing bigger.

These laptops are what my school includes in tuition. It is a great laptop and they are given to use for software development, game development, and simulation and visualization development. They are workstations so they are built for the kind of things you will be doing as well. The only thing is that they are 17.3" displays.. But it's worth it.

All are 15+ inch laptops, and all weigh under 6 pounds.

The asus comes with a 960m, while the others come with a 970m giving it better battery life.

All also have the 6700u processor, 128GB SSD + 1TB HDD, and come with more than 8GB of ram.

I have used xoticpc twice, and have received nothing but outstanding service from them. I highly recommend them, as you can customize the laptop to your liking.
