Wordcraft wrote I think that the confrontation between Zimmerman and Martin was a typical collision of racial bias, subconscious or otherwise, stupidity, and human nature. The addition of a gun only made the outcome more tragic.
I have no opinion on who was in the wrong in this encounter for a number of reasons, the main one being that we don't have enough information about what happened. The controversy surrounding this encounter proves as much.
The aftermath, however, I find to be much more interesting and much more informative. George Zimmerman appears unconcerned with the fact that he ended someone's life.
His actions are not the actions of someone who feels sorrow over how the situation unfolded, whether he was right or wrong.
Attempting to make money by selling a gun which ended someone's life, saying that you don't care about detractors who view this as an ethically abhorrent act, and ignoring their genuine concerns, are the actions of a morally impudent person.
Legally, he should be free to do this, but ethically he should be challenged. As he doesn't seem open to being challenged on this issue, I think many people are wasting their time and energy trying to stop him.
well said. I enjoyed your words

What annoys me is how the Police actually gave him his gun back, it was Police Evidence in Trial.. Usually stuff is kept until it's destroyed. Giving back someone who killed someone with the gun, the very same gun back is ridiculous and that's what is wrong with the Police in America.

He was exonerated and it was his property. Asset forfeiture of people found not-guilty and people who weren't even tried is in itself a epidemic in America.

So this whole thing turned even more interesting.
Martin Shkreli (the guy who raised medication for HIV/AIDS from $13 to $750 last year) has shown interest in buying Zimmerman's gun, and claims he wants to either destroy it or give it to a museum, in which after some hate on Twitter, he hinted he no longer wanted it.

George Zimmerman was able to sell the gun at an auction for a selling price of $120k. (One article states 120k, another states almost 140k, either way, it was sold for above 100k.)
